Today I'm going to be showing you how to remove and install your headlight assembly for your Ford Flex, this one's a 2014 but it should work for your 2009 through 2019 Ford Flex. I looked up a video for some guidance, and all I could find was this video by Factory fiction and it was like 31 minutes so I tried to make it shorter haha

if you want something longer you can check out Factory fictions video...

09-12 headlight assembly set...

13-19 driver headlight assembly...

13-19 passenger headlight assembly...

Other stuff I commonly use in these videos…

Follow me on Instagram 😁😁

symptoms of a bad headlight assembly maybe that moisture is getting in, just really foggy headlights, or obviously a crack in the headlight or broken plastic in the headlight assembly. sometimes a leak in the headlight assembly plastic will leak and allow moisture in and it can cause headlight bulbs to burn out quickly

I tried this on my 14, but the plastic flap that you showed pulled away does not pull away on mine, it is very stiff. I did get in and pop out most of the clips, but the ones attached to the HID assembly was not reachable and of course, those broke. However, it saved me quite a bit of time not having to pull the bumper and showing the bolt locations was the key in this video. Got it out, new bulbs in, and reassembled in under an hour. Now to fix the clips.

It's one thing to take the headlight out, but you did not show us. You just had pieces of your Ford Flex disconnected from the car and said you did this and did that, but didn't show show us, how to do it. I would rather watch a video for 1/2 hour if it is SHOWING me what to do, not telling me what to do.

Holy cow dood! Why rush thru this video like you did? You show us what you did not HOW you did it. That's the point of a HOW-TO video.

Cripes do any of these guys rehearse the video first before stumbling-bumbling onward?

To all of you other guys....watch this vid then do this to get the headlight bucket out:

1. Remove that top plate as shown in the vid. May have center push-pins or screw push-pins depending on model year. (Trim tool/No.2 Phillips)
2. No need to remove all those 7/32 in. top screws they just hold the trim piece onto the grill.
3. Remove the two 10mm hex bolts from the top plate. One on each end. (10mm socket).
4. THIS PART HE EXPLAINS MIGHTY POORLY. IF YOU DON"T KNOW THE THING SIMPLY POPS OFF FROM THE FRONT IT CAN BE A TRUE HEAD-SCRATCHER!
With a nylon trim tool pop the long horizontal rectangular trim piece out of the grill. It is held in only by friction fit tangs. Some models it's chrome others its gloss black. From the very front of the car pry out starting at the outboard ends working towards the middle. There are four or five friction fit tangs along the length. Pry towards front of car, it just pops off. (Nylon trim/pry tool)
5. Now you can see the two 10mm hex bolts that secure the main grill. One at each end. Remove those. (10mm socket/extension)
6. There may be two screw type push-pins along the top plate attaching the grill yet. Remove those if not already out.
7. There are two push-in pins (orange or yellow) one each next to the headlight bucket. Pry those out. Forward. (Long flat screwdriver or just yank it.)
8. For the side you are working on remove the fender liner screws (three x 7/32 in., or 5.5mm socket. Yes, there actually exists a 5.5mm I have one. Fords. Yikes.) Beforehand cut the steering wheel hard right or left to get better access at the wheel well.
9. Grasp the end of the bumper cover with two hands near the wheel arch and tug that baby free. With authority! It just pops out.
10. The cover is now loose, just hanging there. You can now get at the headlight bucket without removing anything else.
11. Remove three 10mm hex bolts for the bucket proper. Two are forward one is around the corner at the fender side.
12. Wrangle-twist-finagle the bucket out. Detach the two electrical plugs. (Push connector "on" then toggle catch then pull off.)
Done.
Takes 15 minutes first time then about 7-8 minutes thereafter. Yep.
Good luck and all the best, Hayabusafalcon.

Can you put the car back together and record and post the entire process, From break down to restructure? Please

You forget! Replace both because the other side is just as old. It's easier to just remove whole Grill.

Was that a factory HID headlight you took off? I’m trying to find the ballast on mine I think mine crapped out and I need to replace it but I don’t know where it is

The earlier years have the grill integrated into the bumper cover, so it can’t be done this way.
