"7 Moments of Spring", with English subtitles, is available free on YouTube and is superb.
In real life the Nazis rounded up all the Soviet spies in Germany by the end of 1942 and the film takes place in early 1945.
I want to see the one on Dmitri Bystrolyotov (also spelled 'Bystroletov').
Having no idea it had been done, I'd always thought his story was so incredible people would have a hard time believing it was real.
He was one of the greatest of the Great Illegals.
He talked himself into thinking he was the illegitimate son of Leo Tolstoy.
After being arrested, during his torture NKVD chief Nikolay Yezhov came down and asked how many countries Bystrolyotov had confessed to spying for.
The torturer said "four."
"Not enough!" proclaimed Yezhov, who turned and left.

I've always wondered what the USSR versions of Bond movies were, where the CIA was the bad guys. This sort of social stuff is fascinating to me.
