There's a reason (or more) why I admire Dr JB Peterson: each time he speaks I listen and with such an act my vocabulary is enriched. Also, a life lesson is learned, right, wrong or indifferent, but a lesson is certainly learned.

I've found that despite different people having different things that irk them, the general mechanism is this: the things you can't stand in other people are the things you can't stand in yourself

Think about it

I admire someone particularly their guts on how they put themselves openly to critic's showing the world he's/her values and morality waiting for someone else to show how it came to be for open discussion and admit if they were wrong and continuously grow in the process. A continuous fight to oneself to achieve enlightenment. Like how I admire some of your standings Mr.Jordan.

100% JP, I admire you a lot. What you bring to this world is unrivalled. What you bring cannot simply be taught, it’s obvious.

I have just one person. Perfect. Complete mind, generosity, brave though sensitive. If I had to keep one thing from this life that would be him. I even felt in love with him. But the one person that is anytime in my mind is him. I was getting into the situation when I was lieyng about what I liked as hobbies because there were a lot of things in common. He changed the way I think for better. He is the most noble person I ever met.

The more mature I get with life (greatly thanks to him), I understand and connect more and more with what he's saying.
But I get an insane amount of gratitude for having someone of his profession, knowledge, wisdom, AND experience, just literally bless us with infinate game!

We celebritize him. But what I see is a REAL Dr with thousands of patients and several decades of Real experience just pouring out some of the greatest information on psychology and sociology that the world has ever seen! 🙏🏽

My intrinsic value structure says:
'Go fast if you're in the fast lane.'

Some people accuse him of making obvious points but the thing is he takes things that should be common sense and delves into the deeper roots of them. Like of course we admire someone because of some action or quality we attribute to them but I never thought of taking note of those things being the key to revealing my innate value structure. And that’s profound and helpful in a world where common sense isn’t that common.

FTR just because you despise someone or admire someone doesn't make them a good or bad person. It's just a reflection of your value system which may be a good or bad value system.

In a word, enthusiasm, that's why we admire others, the lack of it is why we won't admire them. If success is "the progressive realization of a worthy ideal" then enthusiasm as the ultimate ideal state containing all virtue is the ultimate success.

I have recently realized that there were several people in my life who had contempt for me. When asked why, they pointed to qualities that in no way fit me, but, rather, were projections of qualities in themselves. It was never me for whom they had contempt, but rather for themselves, which they could not acknowledge, so they pretended those qualities belonged to others, including me.

In one case, the person also, apparently, pointed to qualities in me that are actually true of me, but that are commonly considered good, like my kindness, my positivity, the fact that I trusted this man, who, it turned out, was deceiving me to harm me and my children. Ultimately, he had contempt for my naivete, which, I suppose, is valid. However, I noticed that his contempt toward me was in direct balance to his pride in his success in "pulling one over" on me. He seemed inordinately proud that he was so successful in lying and manipulating me into foolishly loving and trusting him. The base of his attitude was that anyone who could love him must be too stupid for him to value. I find his attitude truly tragic for him.

In all these cases, your statement in this clip would not apply. It may be, however, because each of these people had full contempt for commonly accepted morality.

Bootstrapping a universal ethic here. Very interesting. I also like Kant's Metaphysics of morals, which follows a similar topic.
