I Turned My Xbox Series S Into A PC!

Recently I have been seeing a lot of Videos and Articles trying to answer the question "Can an Xbox Series S replace a gaming PC?" This question intrigued me so I decided to sit down and find out for myself, here are my findings.

For how powerful console are nowadays, I don’t understand how they don’t let us use them as home PC’s

Before I watch the video, my answer is yes it can.

It's very cool that consoles are getting to a point where they can at least approach the problems of general compute for a low price tag, but the amount of control you give up in both the games themselves and especially on the OS is just enormous.

To that end, I think it depends on your requirements as a user (which is what it feels like you landed on at the end of the video). If you want to just have a console + web browser and don't need features, then I think a console kinda works! Otherwise though, the lack of a file system and a feature-rich OS is an intractable deal killer. Not to mention the performance delta you could achieve if you had the budget.

I'm a long-time PC gamer going back to the early 1990s but I also currently own a Series S. I'm honestly very impressed with how good the Series S is performance-wise for the price. I enjoy both PC and console for different reasons but am seriously considering migrating to the Xbox for gaming when my current gaming PC is up for replacement (probably 2024 or 2025). I could then just have a regular PC around for Internet and regular everyday stuff, and for my older existing library of PC games. It's good that the list of games that support keyboard and mouse is growing on the Xbox but I'm generally fine with a controller in many instances.

see, I think this is a dub, because of the fact that when you try to build your own pc and spend money there. You end up buying a controller, and some of the popular titles like Fortnite and Minecraft which u are gonna most likely play are supported, so just add a monitor for around $150, and a cost of a gaming mouse and keyboard, around $100. Extensions, a SATA SSD and your total is just shy of 600 dollars which is way better when you try to build it yourself and squeeze out the maximum value on a pc, and with the money saved, just buy a laptop, and that is a huge win-win.

I was hoping for you to build a pc inside the series S case, by dimensions this is doable and you could even fit a single slot gpu like the RX 6400

I'm curious if the console's Developer Mode would help mitigate some of the problems you bring up during this video, such as the on screen keyboard and lack of mouse support on the UI. I think this is great for someone like me who doesnt play MMOs though.

I do agree, in this age all of the games on current gen console should come with full MnK support. There is no excuse not to have them.

awesome i bought a Iranian keyboard (TSCO GK8123) in iran I use my mom, s mouse on a made in China xbox one s all digital edition it's not bad I would like to see running a full access windows on xbox running softwares
