I’ve said this before about getting back in shape. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said this and did nothing. Eventually I got tired of being an ex-athlete, 6.2, weighing in at around 280lbs, which was WAY too heavy for me. So I did something about it! Today, at 50 years old, I’m at my HS football playing weight, 208lbs. I’m strong and healthy and still making gains in the gym and in life! #blessed

Love this. My brother used to say this a lot. When I moved out of home at 16 to another city with no money (I remember living from week to week while studying) to study Mathematics at uni, he told me "you will never make it". Well... after graduation.. I got a job at huge company - I worked until 11pm most nights learning and absorbing everything I could, and ended up working for the biggest banks in the country. Plus the $$$ that made him S**t himself. I wasn't the best, but a lot better than people who use those words. You never forget the days when you had nothing.. I cherish those days and memories.. it is what creates such a drive...

The funny thing is, I never said "if only I...". Other people looked at how I did things, and told me "ahh, but it's easier for you, you're smart, I can't do it. You can do anything, but not everybody is wired that way". And I was always so surprised. Because honestly? I don't think I have accomplished much. I don't think that I do my best (in fact, I never do, I just keep going, it's a matter of habit, not a matter of my mental or physical strength). And I don't think it has ever been easy for me. It never was. The fact that it seemed so easy to people, always amazed me. "You look so calm". THANK YOU! Because at least I LOOK so. I never feel calm. I'm frustrated, and angry, and weak, and uncertain, and so many things but calm. And if I, with all my endless weaknesses, was able to do whatever you think I did well, then you can surely do that yourself. Ahhh, but do we ever listen when wise people talk?.. Unfortunately, we only, mostly, learn through experience.

Deep down though, you actually fear yourself.

Patrick, Thank you for sharing so openly and directly with us. You don't preach and you seem to have a very grounded and humble social conscience. You seem to have a very open mind and listen to people even when you disagree because you might learn something.
