iPhone 5C vs iPhone 5 | Pocketnow

The iPhone 5s may be getting all the attention these days, but there's a bevy of multicolored iPhones that deserve some words of their own. Fortunately, we're dedicated wordsmiths around these parts, and we're pretty keen on comparison videos as well.

We unboxed the iPhone 5c last week, and in the midst of flying bubble-wrap and packing tape torn asunder, we promised a followup series of features and reviews. While the latter segment is still being worked on, we've already managed to churn out a few comparisons, and you're looking at the latest of the bunch.

Besides the manifold salient dilemmas cris-crossing the blogosphere with regard to the higher-end iPhones, one of the most-pressing (and, oddly, most-ignored) has been "iPhone 5 vs iPhone 5c." The fact that Apple's mid-tier iPhone push is new and exotic shouldn't detract from the validity of a very pressing question: plastic or aluminum? Old-and-proven, or new-and-novel? Straight-laced reliability, or unproven customizability?

I don't see why people are making it such a big deal that the 5c is made of plastic. The majority of people get a case anyways, I have an 5c and got a case for it, and the only way you could ever tell that it's a 5c is if you looked at the bottom. It's a great phone and does everything that I ask for and more, so if you don't want to waste the extra money for a 5s that you'll cover with a case anyway, then I suggest a 5c :)

I'm getting a 5C in 2 days. I'm pretty young, so I'm okay with the loud color. It's an iPhone. It's up to date, & I've held one & it felt as beautiful as it looked. The iOS 7 ran flawlessly & effortlessly and I fell in love with the 5C immediately. Say what you want, in my own opinion. I absolutely adore the 5C.

I always felt the 5C was targeted towards kids, a lot of teenagers had that phone!

I think discontinuing the 5 was wrong. If people want a cheaper iphone they could've just bought the 5 for cheaper once the 5s came out (the price of the 5 would've dropped to about the price the 5c was). Apple wasted money and materials producing the 5c when the 5 was the same except nicer looking. And where did all the 5's that they still had from mass production go? Did Apple just throw perfectly good iphone in the garbage, because they're apple and millions of dollars is like a handful of pennies to them? I have the 5c because I was on a tight budget when my galaxy s3 was stolen, but would've been happier with the 5 for cheaper. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that I have an iPhone and the 5c isn't an awful phone. I just think it affected consumers negatively and was a waste.

I have the iPhone 5c in blue and it's better than the 5, the back is a bit more slippery because it's plastic but the phone is solid unlike many androids. The battery life is great and it charges very quick with apples charger, the camera takes good pictures, it's fast, and it's an upgrade. Not a big one but it's still an upgrade.

iPhone 5 is better than iPhone 5c. I've actually compared the two of them with many different iPhone 5c's and the iPhone 5 was like 1 sec faster. Also iPhone 5 is cheaper and it has 16 GB (the smallest space) and iPhone 5c has 8GB. I love my iPhone 5, and I don't want any, other phone!

Great comparison, very informative. I like that you compared the 5c and 5 explaining that the 5c is the same iPhone 5 in a plastic case.

I am a new iphone user I have been with android since the g1 front mobile. My wife and I got the 5c a week ago and we love them. As far as I can tell it's the same as the 5 just with a different body. The way I see it get a life proof case for either phone because when you drop them the screen still cracks to shit. Life proof cases are the way to go.
