My kid was done with his crib by 15 months. By 20 months, he would unzip his sleep sack immediately after being tucked in and wear it around his shoulders like a cape while he played. Now, at just over two years old, he has a fluffy blanket he tucks himself into at bedtime. Then after I've left the room he gets up and plays for a while, and goes back to sleep on top of his fluffy blanket. I just put him in warm pajamas and that + sleeping on top of the fluffy blanket seems to work for him.

He went through a phase of being afraid of the dark, so I got him a little tea candle he can turn on and off himself. (The battery isn't one he can remove.) It's not very bright at all, but it adds a bit of atmosphere and comfort.

He has a baby gate, so he can't leave his room at night. I think the idea of a wake-up cue is really smart as he'll eventually figure the baby gate out, or get potty trained and need bathroom access at night.

I'm surprised about kids not being able to pull up their blankets until they're 3! My daughter's been doing it since 2. 🤯 Something new to watch for with our new baby.

We had a crib/baby bed combo (you could move the mattress upwards for more ease putting the baby down, then you could move the matress down, so the kid couldn't climb over the sides, then you could take 2 "sticks" out so they could get out but not fall out and then take the sides off entirely, multipurpose!), so I had to "move out" when I was 2 and my little brother was born. My father in a typical move for him, bought me an adult size (normal height!) name brand bed (with matching closets and shelves). I slept in it until I moved out and still do when I visit, so it's definitely quality stuff (mattress has changed)! :D And I don't think I actually ever fell out of it either.

At high latitude the day time as the time the sun is up doesn't match up with our daytime/nigthtime routine that good that often therefore we need to learn to fall in sleep in ligth and wake up in darkness. Our daughter isn't a toddler yet but she sleeps thru the nigth.

3 yrs is the craziest thing I’ve heard!! My 12 m old was climbing out of the cot. How would you even keep a 2-3 yr old in a cot 😳😳

Thank you for another great video Emma! Still some time to go, but good to have the homework done for when we reach this stage
Thank you soooo much for the previous video and the ones related to pacifiers. Unknowingly we were in the last stage (just for sleep) and we took the leap this Monday with all the knowledge from you. Is far better and easier than expected compared to what we heard from other parents
You made parenting easier for me and my husband with your candid and fact-based advices, whilst helping us avoid common mistakes we see around all too often❤❤❤🤗

What do you do with two kids waking early? My 20 month old has been waking at 4 or 4:30 am the past two weeks. Now my five year old is waking at 4:30 too…

Hi Emma, How about switching out of sleeping bag before switching to a toddler bed? Could this help to adjust to a toddler bed easier?

Would any of these work with a 9 month old? Have you got any videos about how to get babies to sleep through the night?
I really feel like I've tried EVERYTHING (noise machine, darkness, ac, ferber, eliminating dummy, feeding water) at this point I'm convinced my baby will never sleep through :( Thanks for the video, Emma. didn't know toddler sleeping bags even exist!

A bed rail was important for me. I found this out after my kid rolled off the bed and did a face plant lol 🙃

Is there a way without using electronic gadgets? (I have no kids but just curious of why parenting is so hard) I remember that when I was a child I had a kind of window in my door so it was never completely dark. The subtle light from the living room where my parents where watching TV or from the street lamp coming though another room would come into my room. Maybe that would be an alternative to using a lamp?

Emma, do you have video or advice for good nap? My baby can sleep quitely in the night without wake up but in the morning she barely sleep while I know she is sleepy. Because I breastfed her while laying down she can sleep and continue using my nipple as pacifier but when I pull my nipple she is awake
