Shell Pasta, hamburger, marinara, and heavy cream make this instant pot dinner a real winner for the whole family. If you grew up with Hamburger Helper you will love this improved version. Its a quick dinner in the InstaPot.

1 lbs ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tsp garlic
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1 Tbsp tomato paste
1 - 16 oz medium shell shaped pasta
1 - 24 oz jar marinara sauce
3 C water
1 C parmesan cheese - grated
1 C heavy cream
2 oz cream cheese

Turn the InstaPot on to saute. Brown beef and onion. Add salt, pepper,garlic,red pepper flakes, and tomato paste. Turn off Instapot. Add the shells on top of the beef mixture, pour marinara on top and 3 C water. DO NOT STIR! Make sure all noodles are covered with liquid and gently pat them in. Turn InstaPot on to Pressure Cook and set timer on high for 5 minutes. Do a quick release of steam and when the pressure valve seats unlock the lid and add the cream cheese, heavy cream and parmesan. Stir until combined. Serve with a salad or green vegetable and garlic bread.

Made this last week for me and my husband. Tasty. Turned out very creamy. It made a large amount so we had lots of leftovers.

Hi Dina, sounds nice but with the cream and added cream cheese rather heavy. Is this the american version of the gentle and light pasta bolognese?

What type of cheese gives that intense yellow color?

Why is it called hamburger helper?
