Man's blaming the city for an individuals bad choices is nuts. Dude smashed in a window to steal a backpack right in front of police and this guy is justifying it? That's the problem

I’m black. And straight up, this is one of our biggest problems. Not enough accountability for our own. I grew up with no mom/dad. Haven’t been to jail once. I’ve been almost homeless, chose to live at an air bnb. Always kept a head on my shoulders and a job. What have we done with the freedom we fought for decades ago?

Blaming everyone else except the people in their own community. Typical.

I forgot how insufferable this character was when he was first introduced (I forgot his name lol)

Character development for this guy is crazy. Ends up marrying a cop and becoming close friends with everyone in the show.

I have been poor -broke, like the kind of broke when you haven’t eaten in 3 days and payday is 3 days away-your stomach cramps and your weak, and the sounds coming from your stomach are loud and embarrassing
I still didn’t steal or rob anyone- I walked all the way across the city to a soup line ( 14 miles from my job-each way)
Several of my coworkers gave me their lunches and one let me come over for dinner ( I will never forget that man’s kindness-I was almost a complete stranger, homeless recovering addict and he brought me to his home, around his whole family and I don’t speak good Spanish)
Just because you’re poor doesn’t give you an excuse to destroy others lives and property

Blaming cops for policing these neighborhoods never made sense. Most of the crime still happens in these neighborhoods despite less police presence in other areas. People still report crimes, which police take statements on. This just implies criminals are so stupid that they would rather risk running into the plethora of police instead of going out 10 or 20 miles where cops don't bother hanging out.

I love how James adapting and learn to John's ways.
He was only there to help great show keep it around

But when the police don't police an area it turns into "My neighborhood is full of crime and cops don't come because they don't care because of the color of our skin."

Entertaining show. Could do without these scenes of really forced dialogue.

Naw I’m black and this pissed me tf off
He’s not trying to make the community better, he’s just aligning himself and the rest of the “hood” with criminal behavior then getting mad when there’s consequences. Pretty much reinforcing the stereotype

People who say we should be providing stuff for people. No you need to provide for yourself. You can never get past things like mental health issues if u don't accept you are the one to blame😊

He makes alot of great points. Even the cops agree

Yes, there should be better support for people. If people felt like education and jobs were more attainable, then there'd be less crime for those who feel they have no other choice. And yeah, if someone in power were to use unnecessary force then it'd be wrong but in this case, the kid robbed someone, did property damage, and then ran. If what they did wasn't unnecessary, then it's not really fair to crap on them for doing their jobs and wanting to support a community. Plus, some cops are bad apples but plenty of them help keep streets safer than they'd be without them.
Also, it's a fictional show.

I love how shows like this will have people address their concerns to random cops. like yeah I hate how the city is funneling so much of it's funding into the police rather than programs that have been proven to help people and reduce crime rates. because of that I'm gonna go yell at this random cop that just arrested a guy for breaking into a car right in front of him.

People who think like that black guy are precisely why people dont want cops around in urban area. I know its just a show but some really believe that if their situation were better, they wouldnt feel the need to steal and hurt others property but thats just not true. Character remains a still virtue regardless of wealth and/or social standing. That black kid wouldve still stole that bag if he lived rich realistically.
