"Complicated" music is frequently creative music IMO, whereas a catchy song can become boring very quickly. Scardust, just stay as "complicated" as you are.

I wouldn't worry about dummies and their opinions.
The publishers weren't sure about The Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings when Tolkien first presented them because they didn't fit in with the literary movement of the time, but look at them now versus other works of the time.
