What Should we Expect from Probable Extensions for Brock Faber, Marco Rossi and Declan Chisholm?

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Zach Zeman joins us as we look at upcoming extensions for Brock Faber, Marco Rossi and Declan Chisholm. We start on the Faber front, looking first at all of the things Faber brought to the table and why it seems most likely that he locks in with a long term deal to rival many defensemen throughout the league. Seth proposes a radical approach based on the money already tied up on defense with Jared Spurgeon and Jonas Brodin to try to help offset some of the costs, but it seems like a slim chance to actually happen. On the Marco Rossi front, Seth and Zach both agree that a bridge deal seems most likely and look at where he might slot in with a salary and AAV. Seth and Zach finish discussing Declan Chisholm, and compare his situation to the one that saw Calen Addison shipped out of town. They also look at Jon Merrill's deal as a starting point for a Chisholm extension.

Gotta be really careful with Dmen and Goalie contacts. Real careful to not over-pay, which is really easy to do.
I would be comfortable with Brock getting the EXACT same deal is Boldy did, $7M x 7 years with no trade protection, or at the very most a 10-team M-NTC the final 2 years of said contract.

Faber is obviously a big component of the D core future plans and needs to be locked in. I do hate those 8 year contracts, I would rather pay a tinge more and maybe shoot for a 5 - 6 year term although Faber seems to be as sure a lock in for 8. Rossi - 3 year, 2-3 million would fit perfectly. Again, Rossi should be paid accordingly and considered a long term player.
Chisholm is a no-brainer as well. 1.5-2 million per for 3. He played well and no matter is a solid 2nd or 3rd pairing guy.

whatever extension Faber gets, it should come with the Captaincy....in fact, make the exact same as Spurgeon's contract, then trade Spurgeon...and then it's like nothing ever happened. Hmm.

Brock Faber and Marco Rossi still have a year left on their rookie contracts, but Chisholm definitely needs to be renewed. Also, I would not renew the contract with Merill and Golligoski, and would give a place in the rotation to young people, fortunately we have enough prospects.

"Loudon Downey needed a trial attorney today!"

So are we done with the report cards?
