I think it's an important scene that shows the contrast between the moment when Setsu, who had lost sight of himself chasing after his great grandfather, realizes his own music, and his mother, who is still trapped in the illusion of a great father.

There is something that makes the mother's attitude more horrible to me. In the chapter where Setsu plays his grandfather's song for the nursing home granny, it becomes clear that Setsu's sound is even more beautiful than the sound his grandfather had at his age.
His grandfather never wanted Setsu to play like him. He wanted Setsu to find his own sound. Setsu's sound may even become more beautiful than their grandfather's when Setsu reaches his grandfather's age.
