At my company we sell rolls of tapes and I used to often have this problem getting them in the boxes, I've now mastered the art and can fit many more in a box. Usually by slapping 10 layers of tape over the bulging top so they dont fall out. :)

I have always enjoyed these kinds of challenges. I learned with fitting 100 tea light candles into a box that's probably around 4x7. I could stack them all evenly but I didn't like them above the box line, just sitting there and ready to fall out. So I figured out it's just about utilizing as much space in a container as possible. For me, visualizing the process was how I solved the problem. I stand by Einstein's saying that imagination is more important than knowledge. Cheers! 🌟

Saw this puzzle in the 1970s in the jungles of Thailand. A village vendor had wooden hand-carved versions of it. The vendor informed me that the puzzle was centuries old. He had other wonderful puzzles, as well. All of them were created for Thai children, he said.

The answer was kind of obvious- but only when you see the symmetry of the placement. It would be far easier to get the right answer for many people if the box were clear.

I solved it in minecraft! 😅

This cube is a 3x3x3 cube in minecraft and we can approximate the discs with 2x2x1 shape. There will be 3 holes diagonally.

I have an alternate solution. Burn the blocks, sweep the ashes into the box. You'll be able to fit many more than 6.
