I am a Chinese living in Shanghai. I have a lot of American friends in Shanghai who I met through basketball. Most are friendly and willing to try new things. And very open-minded. The Americans I meet have a great sense of humor. Maybe it's because there are people like jim in America. Maybe it's part of American culture. Adult life is never easy with or without money there are also a lot of worries. Because money can't fix a lot of things. It's great to be able to watch someone on stage talk and make the audience laugh and then forget about the pain and trouble in life for a while. Chinese medicine has a long history. Brain surgery was done about 2, 000 years ago. There was once a legendary doctor who said that depression is the hardest thing to treat because people's desires are uncontrollable. It's great to see how happy the audience is and it's great. Also I would say that most Chinese don't hate anyone. We are also willing to make friends. There will be differences of opinion between governments. Different cultural backgrounds and religious beliefs will have different habits and different perspectives on problems. Different social systems also lead to different habits in daily life. But there isn't much difference in what we want in everyday life. So there is no need to hate each other because of government propaganda. We need each other more than most people think. I hope more Americans will visit China. Most Chinese are very friendly to foreigners. Except the Japanese because of World War II they killed too many Chinese and they learned most of their culture from China. But only a small number of Chinese understand that most ordinary Americans do not agree with some of the actions of the US government. Because most of the ideas of ordinary Americans cannot reach China. We can only see US TV constantly calling us the enemy. The truth is that most people on the planet are working too hard to make a living and don't have time to hate people on the other side of the world. Confucius once said: Do not impose on others what you do not want. Five thousand years of Chinese history has not started a single war. In addition to protecting neighboring countries because we know that when neighboring countries are invaded we are usually the ultimate target of those invading countries. No country's government is perfect. America is not perfect and neither is China. Americans can vote for different political parties but it's hard to change policies and many of society's biggest problems can't be solved in eight years. China is not likely to change political parties but it is easy to change policy. It's very flexible. As a result, China's rapid progress in the past three decades has satisfied most Chinese people with the achievements of the government. Hopefully the two most powerful countries will fight less and cooperate more on issues like the environment. The world would be a better place for the United States and China to work together. Hope to see that day. Finally, Americans with an open mind are welcome to visit China. Most Americans only know the Great Wall of China. There are many more beautiful places than the Great Wall. Many cities are actually cleaner than big American cities. Air purification is also improving year by year. Most cities are very safe. The vast majority of Chinese people don't eat all kinds of strange animals and practice kung fu like the US news. Most things are the same as they are in America but they are cooked in a different way. Welcome to China. Love from Shanghai
