My first Pixel was the 2XL and I absolutely LOVED that phone. I had for 5 years and traded it in for the Pixel 7 at launch. Still rocking the Pixel 7, but I do plan to upgrade to the Pixel 10 Pro XL next year. I love the Pixels.

Back in march 2023 I got a new/sealed Google Pixel 7 128gb for $199, and I have been very happy with it as my main phone.
Also recently got a new/sealed Google Pixel fold (first one) for $999 that I use at home as a tablet, and a new/sealed Motorola Razr- 2024 for $699 which I got just because I wanted it and it's my first flip phone and I wasn't going to pay $1099 for a Samsung Flip 6. So far both the Pixel Fold and Pixel Razr- 2024 are awesome.

Every 5yrs or so I buy the best new phone I can get for $250. It does everything I need it to.

The Google store lists the Pixel 7 256GB at $699 here in the US. I got a OnePlus 12 512GB for that same price (after recycle discount) a couple of weeks ago, and it included a fast charger. I like Pixels, my first Android phone was a Pixel, but I couldn't pass up that OP12 deal.

If I remember correctly, that segment on the edge of the phone you are asking about is the 5G antenna. On iPhones they are on the side and are black plastic. So they do look nicer on the Google.

Using 7 Pro from launch, next I'll go is Pixel 11.

I run my phones until they stop functioning properly or I damage it. I can't justify financially swapping phones every 2-3 years. I think the Pixel 9 came out recently, I'm sure MKBHD gonna get his mitts on a couple of them. And YES I prefer the headphone jack as well (which is why I always ran LG phones until they stopped making them) as well as the ability to do the SDHC card myself.

Nice one Lauri. Discounts might be coming to the 8 series soon as 9 was announced 2 days ago. Also the a series are normally the pro's from the year before with a couple of small changes.

have some major issues like cellular reception issue(difficult to get signal in low signal area where other devices have no issues) and heating problem. i would buy pixel anyday if they eliminate these two major issues. it's a deal breaker for me.

There were a couple of generations of Nexus also, which was the precursor to the Pixel.

I like my Pixel 7 pro but I hate Google Drive because it kidnaps every file and photo and my 256GB internal storage is almost empty. I have not been able to find an app enabling me to copy or move files from my phone to external storage. That includes not able to copy or move files from Google Drive to my external storage attached to my ubuntu laptop. I would love to have an app on my phone which would allow me to transfer files directly to a USB NVME portable drive like the one you describe in your "BETTER, CHEAPER & SMALLER External Portable SSD" video. I need help!

6 pro is still hype, but 7 Pro is a skip for me, mainly because it feels too incremental. 8 pro at least has a good support schedule, look forward to picking one up in a few years.

I don't spend a lot of money on phones. I always buy used. Just bought a Pixel 7 for 120 bucks locally off FB marketplace and I love it. It's replacing a Pixel 3, which I bought used in 2021. The battery is just now starting to go on the 3. Before the 3, I had the original Pixel XL. Before that, a Nexus 7 LTE tablet, and a Nexus 5 phone. Always been really happy with the camera on the google phones, and love the fact that these have, til now, been easy to run a custom os on. My Pixel 3 is completely rootable but I actually opted against Cyanogen because it seemed to run just fine as is. Hmmm, maybe now that I have a new phone, I can go ahead and root the 3, just to play with it. My luck, I'll really like it, and then I'll want to get a new battery. And screen of course. These google phones have always been so hard to get the screen off of in order to change the battery. I always buy a screen just in case, because half the time, I end up breaking it when trying to take it off.
