My dad grew up on the rez...he called this meal yellow death but he also makes it with canned veggies and sometimes tuna or any canned meat he can find. He has also made it with canned chilli. Its his favorite comfort food and im always amazed he had to live that way as a little boy, im so proud of him for being a cycle breaker and doing his best for us so we can have anything but yellow death be our childhood comfort food.

I tried this recipe last night and it turned out great! I added shredded cheese on top at the end for a topper and I seasoned the beef with salt pepper a touch of smoked paprika and cumin and then a bunch of adobo seasoning. Thank you for the awesome budget friendly recipe!

That’s awesome! My grandma always made poor man’s meal with cut hot dogs fried with potatoes and onions. All my friends always wanted to come over because even they enjoyed it.

Great meal! I grew up on bizarre, but very tasty casseroles. My fav is still tuna casserole. Don’t knock it till you try it!!

1 box spaghetti boiled
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can peas
2 cans tuna
Crushed potato chips on top for crunch

Still one of my favorite meals to this day. “White trash” food I will ALWAYS love, no matter the income. Feels like home
