I used to be fat. Now I just workout and avoid fast food. Lost 70 lbs in 8 months. I enjoy walking around looking ripped. Life is much more enjoyable. People are nicer, and it's amazing being able to walk up stairs without fearing a heart attack. I was told my fatness was due to genetics. What a pile of crap. Your genetics are in your refrigerator.

I had been morbidly obese all my adult life just like everyone else in my family.
In 2010 I was taking 6 medications just to make it through the day.
Full blown metabolic syndrome, diabetes, inflamed joints, IBSD, acid reflux, low energy.
I had enough.
I reduced carbs to a minimum and stopped snacking.
In 10 months I had shed 90 lbs and gotten off all my medication.
14 years later I have not gained any of the weight back and still take no medication.
*Rejecting fat acceptance saved my life*

Im not american. Im used to say that "America is not a country, is a bussiness". No matter what issue we are talking about, in America everything is about the profit, the money, the power of the bussinesses and what can make people more productive or more consumist. It doesnt matter the product or the service, they will try to sell you something. Society is seen as business and individuals are seen as potential costumers. Thats the root to all the problems there.

The problem starts with parents feeding kids junk while they are still a toddler. I've seen parents let children dictate what to serve. One neighbor let the kid eat potato chips and whipped cream for almost every meal.
Kids are driven everywhere so they never get any exercise. People of all ages need to be walking a lot every day.

Im Asian. My mom has zero nutrition knowledge but she forbade me to eat McDonald's, Nutella, pizza or anything like that, quoting "too oily" "too much sugar" "too fatty" and "if you are hungry go eat some fruit and porridge" or "here have a steamed corn on a cob "

what's so sad is we are killing our own people when other countries take care of one another and feed the children healthy food. it really makes you think

I live 8 months out of the year in another country and I'm always healthier and happier outside of the US. Why? Because I walk more and eat a lot less processed food. Plain and simple. It's pretty amazing, actually.

One of the perks of homeschooling is my kids get a home cooked meal 3 times a day and we get outside every single day, all 5 of my kids (including my son with special needs) every year has a clean bill of health from the doctor and their blood work is perfect

I think a lot of women go to the "body positivity" movement, because most of doctors just say to lose weight, without taking into consideration that overeating is also an eating disorder and needs to be treated. Also women are more likely to be misdiagnosed or not treated for real issues that also can reflect in your weight.

Also we need to start to show kids how to cook again and what a healthy diet looks like so they can make better food-choises as adults.

I recently retired from the medical profession. It should be obvious all the medical conditions that could be solved by losing weight. Yet, people get offended when they are told to exercize more and watch what they are eating. I once weighed 210 lbs- not a lot for 71 inches tall, but got down to 170 a few years ago with diet and exercize, and have stayed that way. Went from 6 meds to 1/2 of one. I look like a different person. Seeing the average weight of Americans go up, does not change science.

Fat is money, it's simple. It's very unfortunate but this country doesn't care about our health, they care about making us sick so that we use our hospitals more and they make more money off of us. Sugar is addicting, and it's in almost everything. I am a recovering sugar addict. I stopped eating most processed sugars (candy, cakes, brownies, pastries, etc) about 3 weeks ago and it's the only addiction I've ever had, but it was SO HARD to cut out. The first 3 days were absolute hell. My mouth was screaming for some sort of sweet. After that, it's been smooth sailing, and most sweets taste WAY too sweet for me now, so I just don't eat them. I've lost 15 pounds just from diet changes in the past 3 weeks, and 2 inches off my waist. It's possible, but it is HARD, and that's okay! It's meant to be hard. If it were easy, we would all be a normal weight. I still eat rice, whole wheat bread and whole wheat paste, but I'm trying to cut down on those as well, at least trying to make the portions smaller.

For me, it’s telling that it basically started when we went from a high fat diet to a high carbohydrate diet.

Any time there's a problem just find out who's profiting off the problem and you have the answer to why that problem exists and also why there's absolutely nothing being done to correct it. And of course, an ignorant and distracted population is ultimately what allows this problem to continue.

I was 422 lbs back in September of 2023. I got tired of being obese so I started my weight loss journey. It's currently march of 2024, and I've lost 50 pounds so far (370 lbs). Still got a long way to go, but I've made progress. What has helped me is reducing my calorie intake, cutting out soda/juices and replacing them with water, avoiding junk food, and exercising sometimes (I'm not very consistent on the exercising part, but I'm working on it.) It's hard to stay consistent, but just try stick with it, and it's possible.

Ultra-processed foods exist in most countries as well. But in the USA you use cars a lot. In the rest of the world we walk a lot more.
Good video 👍🏻

Can we let go of this myth that it's expensive to eat healthy? I am not rich by any means and I've been saving money by eating plant based. Fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes are literally the cheapest foods in the grocery store.
