SQUARESPACE vs SHOPIFY — Which Is Better?

I currently have multiple websites on both Squarespace and Shopify. And here's the thing: both Squarespace and Shopify are excellent website builders BUT they have MAJOR differences.

This video is a deep dive on those differences. We go through ease of use, ecommerce, templates, pricing and more.

The most important thing to understand is that Squarespace is a tool for building all kinds of websites. It's for bloggers, businesses, authors, teachers, lawyers and more. Shopify on the other hand is just for online stores.

Personally I use Squarespace for any small website that I'm building. For example, I use it to build my Mom's small business website and my music website.

I do occasionally use Squarespace for small ecommerce stores. For example, I sell a vinyl record on my music website because I don't really sell that many vinyl records so it totally works.

I use Shopify whenever I have an online store that sells a product more than once a week. Shopify just makes it much easier.

Easily the best video I’ve seen at this. Put me at ease with my decision of using Shopify I was contemplating on crossing over to squarespace for how much more legroom you’re given creating but I love all the bells and whistles that come with Shopify .

If Squarespace had the ecommerce backend capabilities that Shopify had, it would be the best platform!

I just want to share that there's a much easier way to customize a page in shopify. If you create a new template for the page, you'll be able to add things like photos, text, videos, inside the website editor without them transferring to all your other pages.

so my website/blog will need 4 or 5 pages of expandable templates. Meaning i can add as many images and text as i want. I can drop in a few images and put the text anywhere, or i can add 40 images with short discripters anywhere i want. for me it is going to be an open page that i can drop images anywhere i want and continue down the page with as many images and text i want with no restrictions or one open template that does the same as an open page i.e., as many images as i want and texts where i want. is there a way to do this? my old website allows me to design with flexibility (i am replacing the old with a new site). my old page allowed me to continue a them as long as i wanted. You could scroll down the page and continue a subject or style as you wish. It seems to me all these news apps limit how, where and many things you can add. please respond. thanks.
