Pros and Cons on both sides… seems like I didn’t make a huge mistake buying a C1 earlier this year. Maybe a future generation of QD-OLED will be worth upgrading to.

Edit for clarity: I didn’t meant to sound like I upgrade TVs every other year… my last TV was a Samsung LCD from 2013. I just thought it maybe was bad timing to buy my first new TV in almost a decade shortly before QD-OLED TVs were a thing.

They are new technology televisions, new generation and so expensive but even so you have to think carefully before deciding on one of the two. My preference is with Sony for several reasons, Dolby Vision, Android, heat sink but I think it's better to wait for version "2.0".
Good review, thanks.

Wow, Vincent. As enthousiasts consumers, we're so happy you're making these in-depth videos. Not only does it help us make better choices, but you pointing out to manufacturers where they need to improve things, means that we'll be getting even better products in the future.

The Sony elimination of the ABL is a hard PRO to beat from any tv. It's gotten bad on my LG C9 after the last few of these firmware updates and it's something I'm definitely looking for in my next TV. I am looking forward to your next video QD vs WRGB in identifying if I go with Sony or LG.

The lower APL is a BIG deal! I honestly thought due to OLED's nature it was not possible. Happy to see sony pull it off.

Hey Vincent if you haven't figured it out yet you can configure the 123 button on the Samsung smart remote to take you directly to the settings menu when you press it twice. Very useful during calibration.

You don't need to navigate through all the menus using the home button or purchase an older model remote to get to the picture settings quicker on the S95B. You can literally get to them in two button presses once set up to do so.

Press the Settings/123 button in the upper left hand side of the remote, if you see numbers, press up on the pad and you should now see "All Settings". The TV will remember your preference of having this button set to go to "All Settings" until reboot.

The Sony looks better to me, the colors look more natural and not saturated. I don't know why it got bad reps by other YouTubers like honest reviews more like honest rants.

I will once again admit that the a95k is a bit better overall than the s95b, but I put a big emphasis on the word "bit" there. Most of the differences mentioned in this video will not be noticeable in regular content and as such, I find it extremely difficult to rationalize the extreme price hike for the a95k.

Everyone was waiting for this one. Thank you for delivering Vincent! I like that you pointed out how brightness measurements on a simple test pattern is only part of the full story. What happens with real HDR content in practice when tone mapping comes into the equation is also important. It was interesting to see that Sony can actually be brighter at times due to the XR processor studying the frame and applying the light more accurately.

For anyone that owns a 10 yrs+ LCD TV buying a OLED TV will make even watching movies that you have seen before a completely new experience. I have Sony A8H OLED. I get Directv premier movie channels like HBO in 10 bit color and some 4k movies in 12 bit color. But the best viewing experience comes from Netflix movies in Dolby Vision Bright. Sometimes I find myself staring at the differentl colors and forget about the movie plot.

Vincent, I finally subscribed to your channel and think it’s absolutely awesome and love your dry humor! With that said I am anxious to see what Samsung does in regards to firmware/software updates moving forward. Obviously you have a tremendous amount of clout with the major manufacturers as it appears they highly respect what you do. Case in point… Samsung supposedly came out with their last update based on your findings.

I hope all manufacturers take note of what you do. I’m sure none of the companies can afford you! 😉. Best regards and thank you for everything you do.

Went with the S95B during Memorial day sale plus a little extra off due to using Rakuten. So price difference became so big, about $1500 difference, I didn't think the Sony had any chance of making up for it when released. And seems it's true. Sidenote: I'm a Sony fanboy. If the difference in price was in the $500 ball park, I probably would have gone for the A95k.
