How the people at the time did not recognize this as great music befuddles me, but thanks to Clara Schumann, Robert's wife, it lived on and now almost 200 years later we can enjoy it. Thank you Clara and you too Robert.

Perhaps one of the most romantic and practical opening in any symphony I've heard ever. It starts off somber and tense then springs into moderate yet progressive flurries of joyous ode, fire and freshness of modulations. Schumann etched his strong abilities as a symphonist in this the 2nd.

The 3rd mvmt had to have come from the depths of the Master's heart. Effective and deeply affecting. I adore this orchestra. They have a little something extra. Bravissimi a tutti.

What a super orchestra this is. This is the best performance of this that I have ever heard. Janowski, well he clearly likes his Schumann. And what a marvellous symphony this is.

My favourite Schumann symphony. Although all four are wonderful, the Second is to my mind the most unified. I've never been a great fan of slow movements and sometimes skip over them but the Adagio is superb. Another fine performance by the Frankfurt orchestra.

in general this symphony is sooo exquisitely scored, but the first horn part is really to die for, and Marc Gruber does a fantastic job.
