Tips For A Successful Yard Sale

I have years of experience when it comes to having successful yard sales. You have to be willing to spend time beforehand to price items, organize, and plan. You need to have change and bags on hand to put things into. You need to also have your rock bottom price in mind for each item because people will ask you to take less for everything! This is the worst part in my opinion. People always want something for nothing. It comes down to: how bad do you really want to carry the items back into your home and store them?

what I do when I give a yard sale ( we do ours Thursday threw Saturday )  is put IN the paper 1/2 off Saturday after such and such time, or we slash prices on almost everything on Saturday after 12 noon and you'd be surprised how many will come back ! Y'all did a great job !

Friday's are good, but when I moved to Kansas from Colorado I was really surprised how well Thursday's are for garage sales. We run a big church garage sale every year and we make more on Thursday than we do on Friday and Saturday.

Saturday....maybe 2 hours before ending, put a big sign that says "EVERYTHING HALF OFF STICKER PRICE"?

Tips that may help...Type up your signs - example..." everything on this table 25 cents" then place the printed paper in those clear plastic sheets folks put in binders, then you can use them year after year and they will be more appealing. I'd scrap the snack bag and use sandwich bags. Like your bright color shirt idea, wow, it's windy....maybe utilize baskets for your smaller items. What time do you start on a Friday (being a work day and all)? Also when I do Fall sales, I have a huge issue with the morning dew wetting up everything, any thoughts?

We decided to have a rummage sale to generate a few dollars.Lo, and behold, the police show up, and informs us that we are in violation of a new city ordinance, and we are required to purchase a $5.00 rummage sale license, we were issued a warning, and told next time it would be a $150.00 fine.

Do you ever use Craigslist to advertise your yard sales?? My parents look at craigslist every week for yard sales in their area. It's free to put it on there and I know many people use the site to hunt for good deals.
