No matter the firepower, these video game enemies simply refuse to die. For this list, we’ll be looking at enemies that are tough to put down, whether it be due to their durability or combat tactics. We won’t be including any invincible foes, and we’re prioritizing regular enemies over bosses. Our countdown includes the E.M.M.I. from “Metroid Dread” (2021), Revenants from “Elden Ring” (2022), Berserkers from the “Gears of War” Series (2006-), Big Daddies from “BioShock” (2007), and more! For me the hardest thing to kill in a videogame is the predatory microtransactions.

I would add the Jedi and sith in the original Star Wars battlefront. They wouldn’t usually attack you if you didn’t come too close, but they could kill you with a single hit. They deflected every gunshot or even misiles with the lightsaber. However you could kill them by running them over with some tanks or throwing grenades at them until the blast threw them off a cliff. Fun stuff

Super battle droids from Republic Commando should have been in this list.

Those Banshees in ME3 were nearly impossible to kill on Insanity difficulty.

They teleport all over the place and can instakill you the second they teleport near you.

Priority: Earth was really, really freaking intense.

That intersection, man. Good heavens.

I would add the “spawn of Oggdo in Jedi Survivor” was one of the most difficult things I faced on Jedi Grandmaster level, still traumatized the amount of times facing that thing.

Regenerators: shooting their leg will cause them to fall down, exposing their weak point in their rear. No risking flanking maneuvers in tight spaces.

Big Daddies: they are initially passive but can be provoked by hostile splicers. If used to your advantage, they'll be slightly weakened after dealing with your enemy.

I think Big Sisters from "Bioshock 2" are much more difficult opponents than Big Daddys - fast, lithe, very agressive and have power of shooting fire and telekinesses. Not to mention their scream can knock player for a loop.

Those freakin' spiky Regenerators from Resident Evil 4/Remake are a nightmare.

Surprised nobody has mentioned the honey badgers from Far Cry 4.

It felt so good to actually play as Price wearing Juggernaut armour in the final level of MW3.

Man, earning the Rakuyo in Bloodborne by taking on two of those Shark Giants at once was such a pain. Worth it for the awesome weapon, though.

EMMI definitely deserves its spot on the list.

I'm so happy that the og Gears of War trilogy is getting recognition again. It was a fantastic trilogy.

Good list. I would give a special nod to the Winter Lanterns from Bloodborne. Talk about nasty. They can kill you before you can attack them, or you can even see them for that matter. And they're creepy looking. Lol

The purge troopers from Jedi Fallen Order, although easy to deal with, hard to take out since they do so much damage.

I'm really surprised the Bloaters from "The Last of Us" didn't make the list

I found the Praetorians in ME2 more difficult than the Banshees in ME3. The key with both is to let your squad mates agro them. The Praetorians, though they lacked the ability to one-shot you, take more damage and longer to whittle down their barriers and armor. I tend to play as a Sentinel so that I can use Tech skills against armor and Biotic skills against barriers. Just hit either with a powerful skill to weaken whichever defense they have, and move. While you're moving, your squadies can maintain their attention until you hit them again.

Marauders... at least they don't alter your capabilities when they hit you. Cursed Prowlers on the other hand are ... a curse, if they hit you, what does not go away until you kill the cursed prowler
