This book is going to help you understand the important “dos and don’ts” of the motorcycling world!

Here are my Top 5 essential motorcycle safety gear every rider should wear. Let me know what you guys think and what you wear! Like, subscribe, comment, and share!!

My Gear:

1. Helmet - Lets start off at the top. You need a helmet. Your skull is pretty hard, but you have a pretty soft brain. Not to mention a face you might want to keep. My recommendation, at minimum get a 3/4 helmet. Full face is highly preferred. Make sure it is also DOT certified, at minimum.

2. Jacket - Get a quality jacket. Mesh, Textile, Leather, or a mix of quality materials that won't rip apart when you hit the asphalt. If you can afford it, get more than one jacket. One for the winter, and one for the summer. Make sure it has armor slots too. You can buy armor separately or with the jacket.

3. Gloves - Don't buy any ol' gloves. Make sure they are actual motorcycle gloves. Cheap leather gloves from Target will not work. Go to a motorcycle store, local or online. Gloves can in fact have armor. Some sport bike gloves have knuckle and palm armor. Get what you are most comfortable with.

4. Pants - Normal jeans will shred like paper. There are many different types to choose from. Just make sure they use abrasion/tear resistant textiles, like Kevlar. As with motorcycle jackets, most pants offer armor slots.

5. Boots - Or shoes. Preferably boots though. Protect those ankles. Modern motorcycle boots have hardened areas to prevent crush injuries. Whether you drop the bike or a car swipes you, your ankle is pretty much screwed. Boots will help prevent a lot of the damage. Motorcycle shoes only protect the actual foot. Buying a tall boot isn't a bad investment considering it will help you walk away from a crash that would normally crush your lower leg.
Have fun riding around on that sweet bike, but be prepared! I just want you all to be safe.

"Your brain is the most important part on your body...other than your heart and...your skin...and -- anyway..."

Just gave me a bit of a laugh. Good video man.

I highly recommend Force Rider jeans, they are cut with a slim fit, dark wash, have kevlar where you need it, CE armor that goes in a pocket on the outside (not a loose inner pouch), and pads for your sides. Very comfortable because they are stretchy. Only $90 on ebay. They appear to be a small company but I was impressed by the quality; I use them every time I ride.

Great advice!

Don't make the mistake I did when I got back into riding and buy one jacket and pants to "do it all." Get a summer set of gear and a winter set if you live in a cold/moderate winter climate.

Nice thing about boots besides the ankle protection is the fact that they'll stay on in an accident. I got in a serious one in shoes and I flew right out of them. Lost the nail on my big toe. Took forever for that thing to grow back and it still looks weird over 2 years later.
Funny thing is, I tend to ride spiritedly and always wear gear. Accident happened just talking a short ride around a country block to dry off the bike, after a wash, in preparation for winterizing it. Ya just never know when you'll get bit.
One other important bit of safety gear is a right hand rearview mirror. If you have to give one up for style, why that one? At least you can let go of the left bar to do a 180° headcheck. Not such a great idea on the right.

Greetings! I'm a Firefighter in New Jersey and despite all the motorcycle accidents I've been to I will still be picking up my first bike this summer. Great video and tips! Stay safe out there brother.

Salutations from EMS in SC.

From all the calls I've been on, and from the research I'm reading now in motorcycle accidents, have to protect your extremities and your head. Basically all your joints will take a hit when you fall over, which is why a lot of gear is only CE rated on the elbows and shoulders(most likely strike points).

Don't ride without. It ain't worth it. If you can't afford the gear you can't afford to take the fall either.

There's lots of relatively cheap gear, some of which is CE rated on sites like Revzilla, fortnine, or bike bandit.

Great videos. Subscribed.

Stay alert, stay alive.

my son bought some "scorpion covert" pants. full length Kevlar and knee pad pockets and hip as well. I would also add to your boot comment. I would recommend at least boots, if you can get taller ones go for it. ankle is better the sneakers and calf hight is better then ankle. just my 2 cents. good video!

Man thanks for all the information! Especially the tip with the protective jeans and that it needs to be good-looking enough so you would actually wear it. And I always wondered why the boots are so important, thanks for that too!

Just got into my first accident on Saturday and got lucky. I only broke a few ribs and got banged up. Definitely wear your gear folks! My gear saved me for sure (helmet, jacket, gloves, boots), but I wish I had been wearing spinal protection. My spine hurt like a bitch the next day from rolling and it scares me to think that I easily could be paralyzed right now!

This is very helpful especially for motorcycle newbies like me. I just got my new Honda Click 125 Game Changer and I don't know much about motorcycles. All I do know of though is that the helmet is the most essential and important gear any rider should and must have. I'm looking for more gears that would be most appropriate and suitable to the kind of ride I have. But then I guess I'll just have to wait a little longer and wait til this Corona virus outbreak is over. Thanks for sharing this video. Ride safely! God bless! 😎👌
