I worked at an Ace for 4 years. Aces are unique in that they are individually owned, they are not franchised. So when you spend a little more money at your local Ace, you are supporting the owner, their family, and their employees directly. And your community as well.

Ace hardware and true value are great for small to medium towns, it saves trips to larger cities when you just need one small thing to complete a project, my local true value has equipment and tool rental, it’s amazing, you can get excavators, skid steers, augers, drills jack hammers, concrete mixers

We have Home Depot, lowes, and 3 ace hardwares. The ace stores are always my first choice because of service and having what people need on hand. Most plumbing supplies for the average joe cannot be purchased from the bigger stores unless you are a contractor

Im a handy man / building maintenance. My smaller town only has an ace, they have amazing customer service, i get a gift basket and a box of chocolates every christmas, and they always put my stihl saws and blowers at the front of the line for year end maintenance

I used to live in the part of my city that was all rich people and medical facilities one side and less than a mile down the road it turned into the hood.

There was a gas station that converted half it's floor space into a miniature ACE Hardware. And it was open all night! The number of times that little store saved my ass from not having to drive almost 30 minutes to a major big box hardware store...

I was able to get coolant for my truck when it was emptied by a mechanic at 11:30 at night. I was also able to have duplicate keys made and buy hardware and tools for small projects anytime I needed.

After less than 2 years of the ACE being open, the entire property was demolished to make room for a toll road entrance ramp *SMGDFH* 😢😢

Ace has individual units of all kinds of nuts, washers, fasteners..etc.
I can go in and get one single unit not an entire box.

ACE is an amazing resource for folks who do a lot of projects

Ace is the best. Ive always been treated right and your absolutely correct. They will get it for you asap. The way theyve taken care of me is worth the small increase in prices. Ace in my experience is 110% the helpful place.

Another unique thing that ACE does is to offer a co-op buying status. For example I worked at a small, single store, mom and pop department store. Ace would bunch these stores and their orders together, so when orders were made they grouped them together to give smaller retailers a lower and more competitive price on items than even box stores could offer which is a lovely thing to do to aid small businesses

I worked at an Ace hardware for 2 years from ages 19-20 around 2011-2012. I learned so much from the experienced guys there to the point I could actually help most folks. You need a general knowledge of EVERYTHING from electrical to plumbing to irrigation ti water your plants. Its underlooked but its definitely an Ace thing where customer service us a huge focus. When I worked the register it was my responsibility to ask EVERY single customer "hi, can I help you find anything today?" Or something along those lines. If multiple customers walked in at the same time I would need to radio one of the other coworkers to walk over to where they were in the store and ask them if they needed help finding anything or help on a project they were working on. So ta, Ace customer service might be unmatched in the industry for real. Glad to hear its still doing solid customer service. 👍

The Ace Hardware in Berkley, MI actually has a lumber yard, Durst Lumber. Ace is way better than HD or Lowe's.
