For Plaids amazing remix of Gajek's Curved Engines Part 4 Marc Hennes and Matti Gajek created one last Restless Shapes video, making it a trilogy that echoes the structure of the album. If the first clip was about the concreteness of hardware and the second one seemed to show fragments of a cryptic software, this one dives into a Giger-esk biohazard of wetware. Gajek: "A remix is always a kind of mutation. I love how Plaids bold and sensible work took the material to another place. Their music is intensely beautiful. It has a warmth and fullness that truly seems to come alive and reach out on its own. This quality of intimacy also feels deeply ambiguous: contact with the living leaves you vulnerable. In the video we show folds and textures of what appears to be organic matter. Abstract landscapes of unknown biomechanic processes, self organizing fluid structures like described in Lem´s Solaris. A journey through Cthulhu´s guts. The forming and deforming of bodies has always been very touching for me. I remember the strange feeling of compassion I felt watching Cronenbergs The Fly. There is a lot of poetry and humor in the imagery of horror-movies. They know we are not as solid as we like to think.
