The '91 NX2000 had SE-R power, T-tops, and it still looks great.

A reminder of the days when you could buy a fun to drive sporty little car without having to take out a second mortgage on your house.

I still own a 91 NX2000, it's black with t-tops and completely stock. Well, almost... there is an SR20DET hiding under the hood. Great little commuter car.

I owned a 1992 NX2000. Drove it off the showroom floor. One of my favorite cars I've ever owned.

this was one of my favorite cars in the 90s. I think the whole "econoSport" segment was my favorite. Storms, Scoupes, NX's MX3, the EJ Civic Coupe... These are all some of my favorite cars ever

I remember when this came out. The styling still looks distinctive and modern.

Had one from new to 240k miles. Only problem I ever had was the a/c compressor which routinely crapped out. Mods were headers, true cold air intake, high flow cat, and short shifter. The stock seats were inferior to the SE-R's so I actually bought used SE-R seats and installed them as they were bolt-ins. So much better. The greatest thing I liked was the hatchback style as the vehicle was an important cargo hauler for me; I even completely removed the back seat so had this enormous cavity that swallowed up a lot of stuff. Lifetime actual MPG was 34 before 10% ethanol mandated fuel and 32 after. It was not particularly fast off the line as wheelspin was hard to control and you'd bog down starting too low, more of a rolling quick car, it had a really swift 50-90mph sprint for its class and time. 5th gear was short enough that you'd rarely need to shift out for passing power. Mine did not have the t-tops as it was a dealership closeout special back in '92. Overall, a great car that I will always remember.

Still driving one.
Driven it for 15 years.
I've had to replace all the perishable rubber stuff.
This is the best handling car I've ever driven. It sticks to the road like hot bitumen.

It doesn't go fast. It doesn't take off the line.
It doesn't even stop that well.
But I've never, never EVER been overtaken on a curvy road.

Modern cars twice as powerful can't keep up. They're too heavy. They just can't take the turns.

I happen to know that this car can jump really far and go through telephone poles.

Japan got an awd turbo pulsar, so jealous.

Japanese car designs were so forward-looking in the 90s. I miss this era of styling.

I bought a new 1992 Nissan NX-2000 back in 1993.  It was red with the T tops.  I added an aftermarket cruise control.  At the time, this car was written as being one of the top 10 handling cars in the world and would pull almost 1G on the skid pad.  It would quickly rev to the 8500 rpm redline.  A super fun and reliable car to own.

Thanks so much for uploading this! I own one of these, video material about them is rather scarce. Was great seeing this video.

I saw one of these the other day and I did a double take. Then I smiled.

I've never seen one of these before, seems pretty cool! I'd buy one if the opportunity comes around.

I thought this car was ugly when it came out and it still is today. Hard to believe they had the coolest hot hatch of the time also, the SE-R. All these old reviews are so fun to watch.

Take a 91-94 Sentra SE-R and install NX2000 brakes and you have one of the best driving compacts of the 90's. The NX was slightly slower, but was a hatchback which really had room in the back. I had one of these, this car was a handler.

Basically an SE-R with different sheet metal. Nissan was at the top of their game by this time. Soooo many excellent models they had out. Even their TV commercials were top notch.

Had this beauty in Australia for 8 years in my 20s, dark blue, top of the range called NX-R. The 2.0sr was a beast of a motor and could keep up with the V8's. And OMG the reliability was out of this world, the most car I have had, I was still on the original clutch after 220, 000kms!

These were nice-looking cars but they never really caught on. Kind of like the Mazda MX3 they found themselves competing with the Honda CR-X which was the the big player in the segment.
If I remember correctly, a loaded up nx2000 or Mazda MX3 was not too far off the price of a basic Honda Prelude, and many people just stretched their budget to get the Honda leaving the Nissan on the Mazda on the shelf
