Boss: Why are you late for work?
Employee: I was fighting cancer.

I guess that’s why they call it a graveyard shift.

Thank you for that. If anybody needs me, I’ll be up at 3AM thinking about this

I have never slept well my entire life. This is a definite booster for my anxiety. Thanks.

Not just the lack of sleep, it's the STRESS that causes the lack of sleep

If you know how to communicate with your body, you will never worry about this, and that's the first step. The minute your life turns negative internally, you start breaking down physically. Things are waaay more connected than you think in this world.

I think of all the years I worked midnight shifts and how sick I used to get with flu, colds, etc. We grew up knowing if your not feeling well you need to get rest and sleep. Sleep is the best medicine.

Just what i needed for my insomnia, a crippling fear that insomnia causes cancer

Makes sense. Losing sleep for a few days can end up getting you sick with a cold as well. And sleeping lots while your sick makes you better much faster.

When I started going to bed early and getting 8-9 hours of sleep it changed my life, I’m always enjoying life, I don’t need coffee or alcohol, I have energy throughout the day. It’s so sad that some people go through life on a few hours of sleep and they have no idea what it feels like to be healthy on the inside

This is true. Sleep is extremely important it not only prevents cancer but it keeps you young looking. Sleep deprivation ages you dramatically.

I'm surprised I even survived. When I became a new mom I was getting my sleep interrupted for months. Hell even up to a year after my son was born. I was starting to get night terrors from all the sleep deprivation and stress of handling a child mostly by myself. I wish I had some support during that time so I could get a full night's sleep but even now my son is 2 years and I'm feeling the effects of it. My mood, hormones and health still aren't what they used to be. My son is sleeping very well now though, im grateful for that.

There are serious methodological problems with this conclusion, because there are too many confounders. Also, a 70% immune deficiency may sound like a lot, but percentages are tricky. If you have a 0, 0001% risk of getting cancer and it increases to 0, 0002% that's a 100% increase.

Crazy! Consider all those companies that have ridiculous shifts, that are literally destroying their employees
