It's hard to know whether you'll like a book, and more importantly whether it will generate a lot of discussion, without having read it. I like how you said good book club books are "meaty"! Queenie was such a lovely read and was so relatable as a young woman and can see how it would be a great conversational pick for a group club!
I have Pull of Stars on shelf waiting to be read, I cant wait until I get to read it.

I think 'book club' fiction is probably my favourite genre. Lots of things to discuss but without a writing style that is unnecessarily complex - and, as you say, NOT TOO LONG! I would LOVE a part 2! 💕

What a fun idea to make this video! After hosting a monthly book club for a while now, I definitely think a good book for a book club is not necessarily a personal favourite! Accessible writing is definitely something that’s important!

Thank you for reminding me about The Bass Rock! I started listening to it on Audible a while back and the accents were so wobbly I couldn’t bear to carry it on 🤦‍♀️ but I would still like to read it!
