Were Twi’leks more than just a slave race? Known for their beauty and grace, many Twi’lek females were unfortunately forced into a life of slavery by the wealthy and powerful in the galaxy. This led to slavery becoming the primary currency on their homeworld of Ryloth. However, Twi’lek males and females had so much more to offer than just being slaves. Many of them avoided the slave trade and found success in the galaxy.

Take for example Aayla Secura, a powerful Jedi during the Clone Wars, Hera Syndulla, who led a Rebel cell against the Galactic Empire, Garsa Fwip, who ran a successful Cantina on Tatooine, and Senator Orn Free Ta, who represented Ryloth in both the Republic and Imperial Senate. Twi’leks had a unique advantage, as the popular view of them being just entertainment allowed their presence to be practically ignored. This made them excellent undercover agents for both legitimate and criminal organizations. So, while their beauty and grace may have made them targets for slavery, it certainly didn't define them or their potential.

Another big currency of Ryloth was a substance called ryll, which is basically a cheaper less effective bacta. It could only be obtained from Ryloth, too!

Kind of random, but you should sometimes do a video on how the Yuuzhan Vong war eventually allowed many of the slaves to overthrow their masters, one of the overlooked parts of the fate of the Jedi book series

The primary reason why slavery was the main trade for the twi'lek people is because their homeworld of ryloth had very little and mineral or energy production wealth. They only have themselves to trade to get off their planet which sucked.
