Nearly all biblical scholars agree that Paul preached to the Corinthians wearing glasses just like that. Josephus tells us that the Lord's brother wore a similar style. Pliny asked Ceasar how he should deal with people who wore specs like that.

Bart Erhman has clearly never read Justin Martyr, a second century apologist, who outlines the parts of the Mass in detail and the theology behind them in The First Apology (AD 153). It lines up exactly with what Catholics believe about the Eucharistic celebration.

Please read the Didache and the Church Fathers there you'll find it.

Most interesting, as always, but is there a longer version of this (or an article/book) which expands the view expressed, please?

I am looking for the origin of the Catholic Church according to third party sources. Any suggestion?

Don’t Ignatius and Irenaeus mention the true presence?..

2, 4, 6, 8, time to transubstantiate! Thus we begin the Vatican Rag.👯 first you get down on your knees, fiddle with your rosaries, bow your head with great respect, and genuflect, genuflect, genuflect…

Strange that he don't talks from an a historical point of pagan authors like Tacitus or Galenus, according to Tacitus for example Nero thinks that Catholics Christians were basically only Jews that practice cannibalism, cause they eat their God.

Didascalia Apostolorum mentions excommunication for a time period as penance for certain sins. It also mentions the qualifications for Bishops, Presbyters and Deacons. Deaconesses were also mentioned as monastic women servants who could carry the Eucharistic sacrament to shut in women, and help anoint women for Baptism. By the way, The first Ecumenical Council has extensive rubrics about church practice which used Didascalia, and the Apostolic Constitutions as a template. It details penances for sins and holy orders.

FOR EXAMPLE, canon 18 of the first ecumenical council: Canon XVIII
It has come to the knowledge of the holy and great Synod that, in some districts and cities, the deacons administer the Eucharist to the presbyters, whereas neither canon nor custom permits that they who have no right to offer should give the Body of Christ to them that do offer. And this also has been made known, that certain deacons now touch the Eucharist even before the bishops. Let all such practices be utterly done away, and let the deacons remain within their own bounds, knowing that they are the ministers of the bishop and the inferiors of the presbyters. Let them receive the Eucharist according to their order, after the presbyters, and let either the bishop or the presbyter administer to them. Furthermore, let not the deacons sit among the presbyters, for that is contrary to canon and order. And if, after this decree, any one shall refuse to obey, let him be deposed from the diaconate.
Ancient Epitome of Canon XVIII: Deacons must abide within their own bounds. They shall not administer the Eucharist to presbyters, nor touch it before them, nor sit among the presbyters. For all this is contrary to canon, and to decent order.
[Van Espen writes that Isidore's Latin version of the canons translates "touched" as "received", in agreement with Balsamon and Zonaras.]

The Catholic mass is well attested in the earliest Christian sources, why is Bart ignorant of this?
Perhaps the doctrine of -cramps- *trans* substantiation wasn't fully developed, but all early followers of Jesus understood the bread to *_be_* his body, and the wine to *_be_* his blood, this was understood 100% literally by everyone, except for maybe the Gnostic sects.

He quotes St. Paul in 1 Corinthians 11 and yet can't see transsubstaniation in Paul's words:
" The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My Body ...."

So the answer is there is no evidence?

Corinthians 1:11 makes no reference to the Last Supper. In fact, the Pauline epistles make no mention of Jesus ministry at all.

Folks, if you're whining about her glasses, you have much bigger problems to deal with. For example, whatever cognitive damage you have that makes you feel the need to whine about her glasses. Get over it, focus on the information, or shut up and move along.
