Any information on how you tweaked the gun settings (fan / fluid) to spray base over such a small area?

Great job..…….I have a old sata jet 2000digital I love that gun for clear 1.4. lays down clear like glass. only reason most of the time to cut and buff is for dirt. Heard people in here say some of the new satas are not that great?

SILVER CARS When I do a color blend with SOLVENT paint The blend area I hit with intercoat clear. Which is basically a form of clear binder used for custom painters. this will fill the scratches in just a bit so the blend wont have that sanding scratch look. especially in a hood. you use this prior to putting down base. On the blend area only. Sort of like the wet bed stuff used for water base.

I have 3 spots of clear damage as birds took dumps on my paint and it ate thru the clear… now the shop wants 500$ to paint a hood with 3 spots ? Seeing this and now knowing that they won’t paint the whole hood is that a good price because I don’t think so cheers black bmw code 475 I thought black is easy

Question: I thought existing clear needed at least scotchbrite scuffed to help new clear stick. It’s possible to just spot repair area then spray new clear right on top of old clear without prep?

First, I enjoy your dialog. Second, I think you may have helped me solve a problem. Just painted the racing stripes on my 66 Mustang restore. I had sanded the clearcoat (blue), masked for the stripes, sprayed and then cleacoated the whole thing. PROBLEM - When I cleaned the surface before clear (tack rag and pre on the blue to get any dust off) I think I touched the white on a white cloth, didn't realize I transferred some to the blue on the sail panels. So UNDER the clearcoat I have some whitish ...uggg. So here is my thought (please confirm ) I would sand the clear on the roof and sail panels (all connected), respray the blue on the sail panels blending up to the roof ...then reclear - Sorry, this is long but I want to be sure I have this right. The blue is cobalt blue metallic - thanks for any help ..what I want to avoid is masking the white (which I have to do ) and painting right up to it...I want to stay far away...LOL

the only thing i question is how uve prepped the surface, its jut a little too shiny in my opinion. just the other day i was repairing a door on a honda accord and it had been done before at another shop and the clear coat was flaking off and it was very hard to feather out the repaired areas bcoz i kept chasing the clear coat flaking off and it was frustrating that it made the job so much bigger and took so much more time to get it to the primer and then once i was getting the primer ready for paint once again the clear coat started flaking off around the handle and it made my blood boil. i have always made sure to not have any shiny spots on the surface before i start spraying and seeing the bonnet on this new merc kind of bumps me a bit. on the other hand the spraying job was spot on.
