I think another role of an executive producer is to not only hire musicians, talent scout, but to also hire other producers. Like DJ khaled, and DJ mustard have done.

Beat Makers were reffered to as *Programmer's* back in the day as *Record Producers* use to hire them for specific task to program and use midi sequencing for a specific song. I don't consider them be Producers as they never have been. They are more like *Songwriters* today as they are *Composers* that composes the oringal musical composition hence why they get Publishing just like the *Lyricist* or *Topliner.* Record Producer's on the other hand are like a director in a movie as Ochestrators like Quincy Jones, Ron Fair or Sean P-Diddy Combs that oversees the song creation process from beginning to end. What people doesn't understand esp in Hip Hop is that Teddy Reily, Oak Felder, J.Rotem, Timbaland, Dr. DRE, Pharrell Williams, Scott Storch and Rodney Jerkins are all acutally real *Record Producers* as they all see it all the way through. They are *Hybrid Producer's that wears two or more hats they are a combination of the Ochestrator as the tradtional Record Producer role in the studio and a Composer that composes the beat. Most people automatically assume that Dr. DRE, Scott Storch or Timbaland just only make beats, when in reality that isn't the case. They are what you called *PRODUCER / SONGWRITER'S.* Many of them carry that exact job title as they are wearing two hats! That's why they are called Producers in the first place because they oversee the entire recording project. A real Producer always works with the Vocalist in the studio that has input on the finished song.

This was interesting. I always thought of a Producer as a guy who hears the raw talent (a band) and refines it. Adds a little something to the actual song, tells the singer to try singing it like this instead, etc.

So, a modern day music producer basically makes beats and sells them online, etc.. Although you've elaborated on every aspect of music making scopes they may explore, what about "remixing"? Remixing in the sense, not mixing or mastering but adding custom beats to an existing old popular song and/or making your own unique beats n melody revolving around the acapella of a particular song. What's the earning scope here if the music producer decides to go via this route first?

Hey Game. I have a question regarding making money as a beatmaker. When just starting out as a producer if I am approached by artists who are independent and also just starting out, and they want to work with me as an in house producer how should I charge them? Let's say I would typically charge $200 for a custom made beat when asked by somebody online, but because these artists are independent and want to constantly be working on and receiving new music, they of course cannot afford to pay $200 for every single beat. Any suggestions?
