You can kind of partially blame the aibs though. The validation thing is bull. All the GDDR6 chips on the 5600XT models are the D9WCW modules from micron which are rated at 14gbps.

Hey AMD I have an idea. How about renaming the RX5600XTs that were not updated and can't handle 14 gbs memory to just RX 5600 and lower the price?

It sounds like MSI and some others might be profiteering - I remember reading a statement from MSI saying that not all their 5600XTs will clock to or come with 14GBs memory and it honestly seemed like a 'luck of the draw' scenario where if you bought a 5600XT then it would be luck if you got the faster card.

Now you've just told me they created a separate SKU for it. So it sounds like they are going to try and validate a lot of their GPUs so they can split them into different part numbers respectively and charge $25-30% more over the regular Gaming X card.

Those cards without the VBIOS update, couldn't you just manually overclock it? That is the only way they are achieving the VRAM bandwidth bumps is overclocking.

How funny would it have been if the 2060s with the tu104 bits performed like 2080s in gaming as well. Sadly the card is great in a lot of apps I don’t know how to use.

I'm still rocking an AMD RX470 but its at least the OC 8GB vram version. Do ya'll think I should upgrade to this or wait?
