At Rock Hill Farm and Homes we upload new videos at least 3 times per week, about our 20 Acre hobby farm, our John Deere 2038R compact tractor and other equipment, and the businesses that we run.

These businesses include a manufacturing operation, a Christmas tree farm, real estate investing, a lawn care business, and an online retail store. I demonstrate how I am able to use these ventures to earn a good living without a traditional job.

We have some cool toys and always think outside the box on our little homestead so come along for the ride.

You can expect new videos from us every other day, usually around 8 AM.

A few summers ago I was digging holes in everyone’s yard it seemed. I’d fill up my dump trailer and deliver for $100 a load. Advertised on marketplace and it would sell quick!
*Keep on tractoring!*

Glad you're feeling better.

I'm in Southwest Ohio and topsoil here is sold by the cubic yard. Prices run anywhere from $30-$50 per yard delivered but not spread

Appreciate the info sharing and insight to your tractor business. I'm looking to start my own in the next year and your videos give me some real life experience to consider. Keep them coming.

On another topic, how's the Quonset Hut coming? We're enjoying the progress and process changes.

We sell our top soil by the yard. Mixed with compost and screened for 35$ per yard picked up . Two yards at a time. mostly to landscapers and gardeners. I stock pile pond clay for upcoming pond repair jobs.

Brock- I’m seeing top soil / clay / gravel up here Going for a flat $20/ton delivered 20 ton min. The price goes up from there as you step down into .5-5 ton loads. $35/ton you load and add delivery from $50-$75 load.

I usually sell topsoil unscreened for $100 a load in my local area in a 14ft dump trailer. In the spring seems to be a high demand. People planting and starting projects around there place.

Here in N. Texas, fill dirt runs about $19 per yard, delivered. Top soil is around $35 per yard.

I would build a permanent stockpile with concrete dividers, maintain it nice, have all your clay and soil and manure all ready to use. You’ll always need it and have it ready to go. Sounds like you’re basically giving it away anyways

The dirt and clay is really not worth much by itself. The money comes from piling it up, loading and hauling. It’s worth about $2 a yard or ton and a half. I get $135 for 15 tons of clay delivered in my dump truck and $185 for 15 tons of topsoil. No one around here really has good topsoil, it’s getting difficult to find. Most of ours has clay in it as well You probably have 6 loads of each so I wound definitely hold on to it. 6 loads doesn’t go very far on any project. Good video

Hey here in Berlin Germany I still have to pay to get rid of topsoil or other soil and that at high prices on average between 50-100€ per ton and type and if there are many stones in it it gets even more expensive

Have you thought about Grass carp for the pond ?

Based on the projects we have planned, I would be holding on to the dirt. Yet, that is based on what we have planned. If you have no need for it, then sell it. Yet, as you found, it can be hard to find when you do need it.

It goes for $25-$35 a yard here in central NC if you have your own trailer or dump truck to pick it up.

I live in the N/E corner of Illinois, my area population is half and half densely and rural populated area. Most of my topsoil is is delivered to home owner projects (also mulch and stone). In my peak season I run on average 8 loads a day 8 months a year. 2021 season pricing is "cost/retail delivered" as follows, , screened freshly pulverized top soil - 15.00 / 25.00 per yrd. Mulch 15/ 25 yrd.- River Rock 12/30 I also purchased an LS 125 sub compact tractor back in Sept. and use that to spread and do driveway repairs and new installs using CA6 or grade 9. Tractor time is 450.00 per 6 hr. day. I haul with a Ford F450 pulling a 14K dump trailer for hauling and tractor transport. Now having said all that, I believe that 2022 pricing will go up 5.00 to 10.00 per yrd. Good Works Tractor got me to your page. I watched your winch video and what a great idea. thanks for the info

your materials are not processed as they would be from a large aggregate supplier. Given that you can charge 70-80% of what the aggregate supplier charges in your area (50-mile radius). That would mean someone coming with their own vehicle and you loading them. Do not give a price per ton since you do not have a scale for the trucks or a scale on your loader. So sell by volume, mainly done by the cubic yard.

Outside St. Louis Mo I get clean top soil for $400 a load. I think it's around 20tons. (huge dump truck). And $200/load for fill dirt.
