i just started putting premium (v-power from shell) in my 2010 ford fusion and man it amazing. I felt a difference instantly on performance. My miles per gallon also increased a whole mile from 27 it went up to 28 with mixed city and highway driving. Also the its only a $5 difference between regular and premium when you fill the tank up. FULLY WORTH IT.

I have a second car that I use for long trips. It's a 1993 Ford Festiva, basically a re-badged Kia. I get 46 mpg on the freeway.

as mentioned before, using the A/C reduces fuel economy the same, if not more than with the windows as half open. Best would be all windows up and closed and the vent open to "fresh" or cracking the sun roof a bit. Now newer cars use "less" fuel with their A/C systems on (Hyundai anyway) but still never as good as no A/C and windows closed.

@mellowdalyricist yea just like low tires don't use fuel, or open windows, or trailers. DUH, they don't literally use fuel that use fuel through their use. Drive ur car with the A/C off, accelerate hard (race a buddy) then turn the A/C on and to the same. You will be slower, ur overall HP will drop and you will also use more fuel. If u want to be comprehensive. Drive a pre-determined distance that you can measure ur fuel use with A/C off, then do it again with the A/C on.

Try adding just a bit of pure acetone to your fuel. Kipkay has a video all about this on his channel:)

Giving someone a ride is worth the little extra you pay for reducing one car off the streets.

You don't wanna drive with a lead foot, but you don't want to accelerate like a turtle either.

Try to avoid the drive thru cuz sitting in ur car waiting for ur turn to get ur food is waste of gas

It isn't true that all turbos NEED premium anymore.... Nowadays I know a few brands, including Volvo (T6), that say that regular is fine, even on their turbos.

Waxing your car gives you better aerodynamics.

Buy a VW TDI with a 6spd manual.
They're only slightly more expensive than comparable non-Diesel cars but get much better MPG. Hybrids are too expensive and even the better MPG won't make it profitable compared to a VW Diesel, especially when you consider expensive battery replacements in the Hybrid.
On top of that the nice Diesel torque + the 6spd makes it more fun to drive than all kinds of Hybrids and most non-Diesel cars in that price and power range too.

@davidajmartinez not the right choice unless your keeping the car for a minimum of 10 years, which 90% of people do not do, for hybrid and electric cars you pay a premium, even with government incentives they still cost an arm a a leg above a normal car, the best option is to buy diesel cars which almost always cost less than gasoline running cars.

P.S electric cars are very very very expensive to maintain.

@onishchuk4 That's actually very true. LOL I wonder how much demand would drop, if most Americans weren't overweight.
