windows 1 is the only windows software that crashed during the new year of 2000

This is actually because the old systems only interpreted the last 2 digits of the year (99) and the first 2 digits of the year (19) was used as a prefix. When 2000 came along, unpatched systems show the year as 1900. There was a patch near the end of 1999 where they made it so years are now interpreted as 4 digits. So the year 2000 is now correctly displayed

Most computers back then would use the last two digits instead of the whole year to make it easier, but they feared that when 2000 would hit this bug will cause a computer to think it’s 1900 and all computers will lose data from the modern day
