For lane changes, you don’t need to engage the turn signal fully. Just press it lightly and it comes on for about 3-4 seconds then turns off.

I have a Model Y and a Volvo. I like how Volvo does their lane changes for their version of autopilot (Pilot Assist). When I signal a lane change I do the lane change manually but the cameras pick up the new lane and once the car knows what direction I am going (left or right), it re-engages autopilot and brings me smoothly into the lane. Relates to another beef I have with Tesla. If you engage AutoPilot too early during a lane change, it sometimes jerks you into the new lane.

Tesla should add auto lane change (not NoA) to basic Autopilot or at the very least allow customers to buy this feature without all the other EAP and FSD features.
Kia, Mercedes, BMW, VW, Nissan, etc. are adding automatic lane change to their basic driver assist packages.

Haveing to re-enable lane assist really sucks. So many other brands who do this much easier. I currently drive a Skoda Kodiaq, but as far as I know this is the same on all VAG vehicles with lane assist function:
Just indicate and make the lane change. That's it.

You will be "allowed" to leave the lane in the direction you're indicating, so no resistance from the steering wheel, because why should it still resist when you're indicating to make a lane change right? Once in the new lane, the car will detect it and lane assist indicater will switch back from orange to green to let you know that it has done so.

Don't get me wrong. I really like the model Y and it is a strong contender when my current lease expires, but I really really really hope they change this before I have to choose.

That’s how I’ve been doing it unfortunately and I have Enhanced autopilot enabled (no FSD). It doesn’t automatically switch lanes. I thought being able to turn on Enhanced Autopilot would’ve enabled auto lane changes.

Dax I am in the US and I am a 10.5 beta tester. I say that because I am looking forward to the day I hope you get the full self driving FSD beta. Why do I say that is because I have been following you for a long time and your tips are the greatest, I always learn something from you. I have not found anyone with the beta that finds these tips in the US and shares them like you. I found with beta if you summons the car and get in to drive in FSD beta you get the BIG RED STOP SIGN and it disengages. I think it is because of the camera looking for you is the problem and I have reported it. I know you my friend would let us know as not to do this in a tip. Hopefully Tesla will fix this in the next update as I have reported it. Thank you.

I wish auto steer would re engage itself after the turn. Even Supercruise on Chevy Bolt r engages when you change lanes

i thought it will move by it self when you put turning signals on

It has nothing to do with autopilot it is the feature where lane change indicator will turn off automatically after lane change.
