Imagine if it had failed and all the professionals at the surgery had to live knowing they killed Albert Einstein

Nissen was actually a very interesting person and the first doctor ever to successfully remove an entire lung. We even have a surgery award here in germany named after him (Rudolf Nissen Preis).

I actually know somebody whose aorta burst and was in critical condition for at least a month. He’s doing a lot better, thank goodness! It was a miracle that it burst while he was in a hospital and was able to get immediate help

“Doctor, we have Albert Einstein cut open on the surgery table with an extremely dangerous issue, what should we do”

“So what I want you to do is open up the 3rd drawer to the left of the microwave in the break room”

it's terrifying but atleast he's lifespan is increased by 7 years which is good thing for experimental results

My dad died of a aneurysm in his brain.
Worst thing I saw in my life
The body doesn't know what to do with blood leaking outside of the aortic valves in the brain.

The body exhibits signs of asphyxiation.
(Meaning lack of oxygen to the brain)
The body shakes uncontrollably and you can hear snoring like breathing
This is the body trying its best to keep the oxygen flowing.

It was horrifying seeing him go from hard at work to on his deathbed.

He woke up paralyzed due to asphyxiation. Loss of practically every sense of motion and couldn't talk. And his body was trying its best patch itself up.
He only lasted a week in the hospital. He died on my birthday.

I also had saw this happen to a stranger neighbor. My dad was able to try to help him. But that person also died.

I had this done to my sacral spinal cord nerve roots. Except they used bovine pericardium. Super interesting!

Some of the doctors in the 1900s did the scariest operations. Thank god that medicine and technology has advanced to where it is today 😅

I remember early in my nursing career we had a patient on our floor die from in aortic aneurysm that burst not abdominal. I remember the doctor was mad that his patient died and later apologized after he found out what the cause of death was.

Omg it's so overwhelming and kind of terrifying how an ordinary item can save you 😰
Edit: There's a literal war in my reply section 😂 Well thankyou to the people who stick up for me 😄

That’s cool I’m glad Einstein survived as well as the fact that the scientists 👩‍🔬 👨‍🔬 🧑‍🔬 were so creative

(This would be BADASS advertisement for Saran-Wrap!)
"If it's good enough for surgery on Einstein, it's good enough for your Sandwich!"

Einstein may have Marfan's syndrome! I've had two aortic replacement surgeries and one aortic dissection. My last aneurism was 70mm. My Father and Brother survived massive dissections also, thanks to the awesome team at RPA Sydney, Australia.

Funny, I just left a comment about my mom being in a coma. She was in that coma because she did an experimental surgery in 1980, the doctor took her stomach out and wrapped it with cling film and put it back. This was to lose weight. She was 380lbs and only 5ft. 133 people got this surgery and 121 died from it by then because they failed to tell them to get it removed 3 years later. My mom had it on for 15 years at that point and a Dr from Germany had to fly in to removed it. He had to chisle it off at that point but she's still alive to this day and she's 73 years old. She only weighs around 100 lbs now so I guess it worked.

Nissen was a genius. Way ahead of his time.

This is so interesting, I never knew much of his actual life/death. I guess this is how medicine was back then when they knew less, how lucky he had someone with a good theory to try
