How to Make a Lightsaber in Blender

Tip: If you're using cycles, go into the compositor and put the glare node in there. Then set the settings of the node to the following:

Fog Glow
High
Mix: -.5
Threshold: Don't Change
Size: max

alternatively, when making the handle, you could have just added a bunch of loop cuts to a regular cylinder and then extrude/scale them all inward... would also ensure that each part of the handle is the same thickness :) awesome tut my friend

Hi, when I added the emission for the blade and chose my color, it does not glow like yours, is there a setting that I need to apply, mine is just a normal bright color, not an actual emission.

Why does it just move the tip when I try to drag it into the retracted position. Only way to make it move the entire blade is selecting the nodes/faces in the middle of the blade, then dragging it with the tip selected as well, but then it sticks out the bottom of the handle. I can’t get it to move the entire blade with the tip by just selecting the tip
