I was in state prison for seven years. Villains are real. I met some soulless people in there who are totally lacking in empathy. They're not super common even in there, but they do exist.

I took a Harry Potter and Religion class in college (I know, I know a waste of tuition but hear me out). Not only does Harry Potter, Chronicles of Narnia, AND LOTR have heavy religious values, it is subtle and beautiful. I hate that Hollywood keeps trying to shove down our throats that there's no such thing as evil. We get it, you all hung out at Eipsteins Island. Only God can save you now, not convincing us that "evil is righteous."
