If you put a sword on a sword the sword breaks first.
As an aside, if you dont want to mess up your weapons for mining, fuse a rock to your shield and just parry the ore youre mining. Breaks the ore in one go.

OKAY! ACTUAL ADVICE!
Gerudo Weapons tend to give you a 2x multiplier to whatever material you attach to them. Save your very highest fuse damage materials for a Gerudo greatsword!
THEN! When you're fighting Lynels, you can mount them and smack them on the back, In the previous game while you were mounted, you do your full damage of your weapon, BUT, it doesn't decay your weapon for some reason. I'm PRETTY sure the same lack of decay is the same in this game.
SO! Find a Gerudo weapon, and make it into a specifically Lynel hunting weapon!

My favorite weapon period has to be any spear with a rocket attached. So satisfying to see them shoot something down.

For the big floating platform mode of the constructs, I used Recall on the blocks it throws at you which is also effective. Especially cause the one I fought that did that so far was waaaay up high lol

Tears of the kingdom really leans into the whole "screw you dad, i do what i want" vibe that Breath Of The Wild had, where someone could hurl themselves across a shrine's puzzle using nothing but Link's powerful thighs.

Has anyone else fused a hive to their weapons, or just me?

May not be the strongest, but it doesn't just do initial damage, but also adds bees stinging your foes. Dope combo. I also made an opal wand. I died before seeing its proper use because the opal bolts flew anywhere but my target. 🤣👍🏻

For breaking rocks, I suggest fusing a Minecart to your weapon instead of a rock. It insta breaks ores, and you can just go to the great sky islands to get free unlimited minecarts.

First time I fought that Flux Construct, I had no idea what it left behind. I never thought to fuse it, so I left. Glad to know they respawn.

A talus stone heart fused onto a thick stick makes for an excellent rock hammer.

don’t forget about shields. there are cool and fun fuses early game that can carry you through:
- fusing your shield with spiky things, like a spike ball, a spiky slab, or the spiky part of an armored enemy, will reflect damage back at the attacker. you can also slap the enemies with your shield by parrying
- fusing stone platforms onto your shield allows you to be completely unfazed by flamethrowers, gleeocks’ and fire/ice likes’ fire and flame breaths
- fusing a trampoline onto your shield allows you to bounce on it once, or immediately stun enemies as they strike you, only works on non boss enemies and non lynels
- fusing bombs onto your shield allows you to either bounce off the explosion or blow the attacker up. you can do both by shield bouncing on a group of enemies, which you can then enter bullet time and rain artillery fire
- fusing elemental fruits onto your shield also creates explosions but with elemental effects. you can fuse gems onto your shield to have more uses
- fusing carts and minecarts lets you use it as a skateboard. fusing a sled allows you to slide on sand and snow faster. fusing a wing allows you to enter bullet time by jumping in place. fusing a rocket pushes you forward
- fusing your shield onto a 2 handed weapon is also a good idea because you get a balance spread of attack and defense

fusing active zonai devices like flamethrowers, ice and electricity throwers are not a good idea because they drain shield durability even when the enemies aren’t hitting you. fusing a canon or laser is also very imprecise as the shield moves and sways with link’s movements, so you have to stand completely still, which isn’t the brightest idea in combat.

you’re also better off throwing puff shrooms, muddle buds and dazzle fruit as to not waste shield durability, and also fuse better items onto your shield

I attached a Moblin Arm to another Moblin Arm for a double handed weapon with 56 damage. I call it my Lynel Smacker. I only use it once I mount it.

The most literal form of chaotic energy would mean the boomerang wouldn't return to the thrower but remain airborne indefinitely and perpetually follow Link on his journey for the remainder of the game.

Thank you, Ellen, for reminding me that, while I've embraced TOTK'S abilities through exploration, I have been playing its combat like I'm still in BOTW. I'm off to go beat a Flux Construct now, while mentally flaying myself for having decided that the best strategy against them was to run in circles like a headless, arrow-throwing chicken.

Didn't realize you can use Ultrahand or Ascend on the block things.

I keep forgetting how useful Ascend really is.

In Tarrey Town to the North-east there's a Goron who can remove matirals from fused weapons for 20 Rupees, you can already do this from your inventory but when you do the fused material is lost, talking to this Goron will let you keep that material.
This is more of a mid/late game thing but it is a decent money maker if you get the weapons dropped by Wizrobes take them to be de-fused and then get a gem from it.

So far I’ve been using Sturdy Wooden and Soldier weapons the most due to their new attributes, Knights and Royal weapons seem hard to find/take advantage of their effects

Would love to see a video about weird and useful fusion effects that aren't just about damage. Shields have some good ones, some less known about.

One faves are when you add a ruby to a shield: the area around you becomes very warm, letting link walk around in a blizzard all cozy with no other cold weather resistance at all. Link can even skinny dip in cold water (edit: not *most* cold but a lot of winter area water) with no ill effect. The trade off is they are hard to come by, so you *really* don't want the shield its on to break. Using two-handed weapons alongside them is best.

Edit: Dragon parts do this as well, the scales I tried being only slightly less effective at swinging the temperature than a ruby.

For quite a lot of powerful elemental fuses easily you can land on the back of a dragon and you can collect shards from the base of their larger crystals.

For the flux construct "flat mode" if it's floating too high You can rewind the blocks it shoots at you to get on top as well

You can also use fire against the Evermeans. It's chip damage but they panic when they're on fire.

Side note when you have Autobuild you can spawn any zonaite parts like the flame emitter by sticking say an apple to it with Ultrahand and then favouriting it so you can spawn it later.
