Mitchell Varela gets his pedicures done by one of the most unlikely sources: a cast of striped shore crabs on the shoreline of San Diego, California. These crabs mostly eat algae, but they're scavengers, so they might find dead skin appetizing too. They clean dirt and grime from underneath and on the surface of the finger and toenails. They're usually skittish, so Varela sometimes has to stand near the rocks on the shore for hours to get them to nibble on his toes. It takes lots of patience, but for him, the results are worth it.

I tried this with a bigger crab because i have ingrown nails that have pus already and it was a consistent pain in my life even after getting a pedicure. Thanks to them i dont have to worry anymore because their massive claws cut my entire toe. No problematic toe, no toenail, no ingrown. Yayyyy❤

This happened to me once while visiting the rock pools in Centeal/Northern California beaches! Pro-tip: find a pool with a bunch of small hermit crabs and stick your feet in the water. Wait about a minute and let them do their magic. No pain or discomfort! So fun!
