What a brilliant idea! I had to try it out straight away while your video was still playing.
I only did one thing differently. When I folded the journal, I didn't make one crease in the centre. Instead, I made two parallel creases, also sewing twice - creating a sort of spine of about 3/4 inch.
This meant I didn't have to tear out any pages, as the journal can be thicker this way.

New subscriber here! 😊 Two years ago, I created a nature journal for my 3 year old grandson to take along on our nature walks. I kept the handles in their original position, folding up along the bottom to create pockets for various leaves he would find. I’m loving your concertina design relocating the handles and will be making one like this for my 8 year old grandson! ❤😊

I absolutely love this. My summer series of Junk Journaling at the library went really well. We did 3 sessions just working on altering composition books and people had so much fun. I'm thinking of doing a series of 3 in the fall and this paper bag journal looks like it would be a great one to include.
