I know no one does it, but I always have, put a petticoat under any/every dress or skirt. I have never followed fashion, I make my own, so don’t care what others do.
I just think the fabric hangs better and looks more elegant with a slip. Often very fine vintage ones or I make them up myself.

Satin skirts and shirts are often VERY staticky once the central heating goes on. I spray the entire inside of these garments with an anti-static spray before wearing and that helps A LOT.
