However, the reality is more complex, as Indonesia still faces challenges with issues like poverty and cleanliness, just like any developing countries. It's important to avoid making broad generalizations and recognize that no country is perfect.

In 2012 I once lived in jakarta and witnessed for myself that jakarta is a metropolis that never sleeps for 24 hours, infrastructure and buildings are so magnificent and modern but on the other hand many villages or residential places are very shabby and it is adjacent to such a magnificent building what a very contrasting scene! There is such an unequal economic equality I think, I stayed there for 1 month..

Slums in Tier-1 cities are a common phenomenon globally, and in my opinion the only way for the people living in those slums to come out of the misery is to start a life in a Tier-2 or Tier-3 city where cost of living is lower.

just learn from malaysia. especially KL area. during 70's 80's there a lots of slum area then slowly gov move (force to move) this people to the new flat housing area, if they not move, out of sudden the slum area facing a very big fire the next day, burn all the houses so the people doesn't have any choice but to move the new flat that gov already build. LOL

There is minus and plus if we compare Indonesia and western area like America ..in Indonesia poor people still lucky becouse they still can rent the small room..but in America..some people who called homeless live in tent or care becouse the house rent so hight even some of them have a job..

Finally the government decided to moves the capital to East Kalimantan, well at least those policy will reduce the roles and burden of Jakarta, Jakarta are way too much roles as the central of government, .politics, economy, finance and technology

They key word is ‘comfort’ repeated many times by the people living in the slum. If they are comfortable (being with their families, next to familiar surroundings etc) then they have no motivation to change the course of their lives
