Finally I'm closing in on the border with Tajikistan. After a final bit of desert, the landscape is turning greener and greener. I reach Samarkand, a place in Uzbekistan with a long, long history and had the chance to wander around there for a bit.

Finding engine oil here was yet another mission... motorbike life in Uzbekistan is not easy!

This channel is such a relief from the 1 million testosterone laden rider-channels featuring ccm, roadrage and cornering... Love how you touch the soul of motorcycling =)

Hey Norali, don't know if you'll even see comments on a year-old video, but my wife and I travelled in Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan 5 years ago - and we stayed in the same guest house in Samarkand as this video. The guy who met you has a twin who runs another one - where my daughter and some friends had stayed a couple of years earlier. She was our guide on this trip!

Concierge: Do you like the view?
Norally: Oh wow... rooftops, my favorite!

Great episode. Those buildings are spectacular!
That courtyard that you parked the bike in at the hotel was beautiful, as well.
I wish the architecture in my city was that beautiful.
Happy Trails

Hello Noraly! Greetings from India. It's wonderful to watch your great videos. You are an incredible person. Your videos are great and full of warmth and human interest, which is why they make you feel addicted. There have been many videos of travelogs through the well developed countries of the west, but none so engagingly portrayed about the great ancient and living civilizations of the Central Asia. It was wonderful to see the smiles of welcome and the warmth and friendliness of these innocent people and their hospitality to strangers. Wonderful people and wonderful cultures. You have aptly captured these aspects of the people in your travels through these countries in short video clips, which speaks volumes for your skills and acumen. It was really a great treat to see ancient cities of Yazd and Smarkhand and the mountains of Tajikistan and kyrgyzstan. Many many thanks for your wonderful travelogs which have hooked me. Keep up the good work. Best wishes, Bon Voyage and Good Luck.

So fascinating to see those blue domed and tiled madrasas and mosques. I just finished reading a beautiful coffee table book about mosques around the world, and this one you visited in Samarkand was highlighted in there. Interestingly, something I found out in doing more research, that these buildings were in complete shambles at the beginning of the 20th century. They were basically old ruins, destroyed by multiple earthquakes through the centuries and the Soviet government rebuilt them along with aid from foreign organizations. So what you see now, as spectacular as it is, is all new, not the original buildings that date back to the 14th century or so. So glad to be able to see them "up close and personal" in your video! Truly beautiful!
