Who Were the Sons of God? | Doug Van Dorn

Many books have been written on the subject of the nephilim but none as complete as Doug Van Dorn’s effort. Tracing these giants back through history, he takes the readers places few have explored. Who were the Sons of God? They were family members of God. What did they do with the gift of free will? They rebelled and did what they knew they should not do.

The Bible had been here since the 1400’s. Why are people acting so surprised about all the information from God that’s written in it? What is making people seem surprised they just discovered the Bible and found it has everything about God’s creation?

Finally I hear someone mention the power of the resurrection. Anyone can be put up on a cross and die. It is the power over living or dead in this world that makes the difference. Technically The messiah did not die on the cross (or whatever the instrument of capital punishment was actually shaped like) he commended his spirit and left his body of his own accord. That is why the Roman centurion stabbed him… Because the centurion thought the Messiah was faking like his spirit had left his body. The Messiah leaving his body behind by his own free will is a demonstration of the power over life and death.  
The ultimate power is in the resurrection. Without the resurrection everything else means nothing. That lifeless body in the tomb being reanimated and filled from without by the Spirit of God is essentially us/the entirety of humanity. Without the True fulfillment of the prophecy/pact by the resurrection the entirety of humanity remains sentenced to death for rejecting the only sinless thing on the planet. The resurrection of the Messiah is what released the Holy Spirit for any human to interact with if they sincerely inquire. 
A person can go to church their whole life, read the Bible forwards and backwards etc. but without the sincere spiritual inquiry into the truth ( not just doing enough to feel comfortable about pursuing what they want in the world – Including children marriage business interests etc.) A PERSON WILL ONLY REAP THAT INNOCENT LIFELESS TORTURED BODY HANGING ON AN INSTRUMENT OF CAPITAL PUNISHMENT and spend eternity in a tomb properly prepared for burial…. The resurrection of the Messiah‘s lifeless body is what defeated Satan once and for all… and enabled any sincere human seeking the truth to have a direct interaction with gods spirit which will erase any doubt about the truth of the creator of all things. It is in an individuals personal baptism in the Holy Spirit that saves and redeems which was made possible by ultimately the resurrection of the Messiah.

There is only one bible verse where God defines the 'sons of God' here:
~ Romans 8:14; "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God."
~ Note this is a statement about those that are willing to be led by God, not a specific type of created being.

~ Genesis 6:2-3; ... the ‘sons of God’ saw that the ‘daughters of men’ were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves, whomever they chose. ‘Then’ the LORD said, “My ‘Spirit’ shall not ‘ABIDE’ with ‘MAN’ forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless, his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” (ESV)

Who is God removing His ‘Spirit’ from? Angels? No, ‘MAN’! Was God’s Spirit ‘abiding’ with ‘MAN’ then? Again, “those being led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God.” MAN

* This video states that:
"In the Sethite view, the 'daughters of men' become the daughters of Cain. That's not what it says." Oh Really?

* The term 'daughters of men' is only used once in the entire Bible, but we can understand more if we search the 'sons of men' and see what type of people they are. ...Godless pagans!
~ Genesis 11:5; The LORD came down to see the city and the tower (Babel) which the 'SONS OF MEN' had built.
~ Psalm 4:2; O 'SONS OF MEN', how long will my honor become a reproach?
How long will you love what is worthless and aim at deception?
~ Psalm 12:1; ... Help, LORD, for the godly man ceases to be,
for the faithful disappear from among the 'SONS OF MEN'.
~ Psalm 12:8; The wicked strut about on every side
when vileness is exalted among the 'SONS OF MEN'.
~ Ecclesiastes 3:18; I said to myself concerning the 'SONS OF MEN', “God has surely tested them in order for them to see that they are but beasts.”

Now contrast those daughters/sons of men with the 'SONS OF GOD':

~ Romans 8:14; "For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God."
~ Deuteronomy 14:1; “You are the sons of the LORD your God ... For you are a holy people to the LORD your God, and the LORD has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth."
~ Exodus 4:22; Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the LORD, Israel is my firstborn son, '
~ Matthew 5:9; “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
~ Galatians 3:26; for in Christ Jesus, you are all sons of God, through faith.
~ 1 John 3:1; Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore, the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

We can see the actions and names of Cain's descendants compared to Seth's:
So, in Genesis 4 we see Cain's line;
Cain (1st murderer),
Irad (Fugitive),
Mehujael (Smitten of God),
Lamech (1st mass murderer, 1st polygamist),
Adah (wife: ornament),
Naamah (wife, Sweet, Pleasant) ... so the women are desirable, and the men have rejected God.
Then comes:
~ Genesis 5 we see Seth's line:
Enosh (Seth's 1st born: Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord),
Mahalalel (Praise of God),
Enoch (Walked with God and was raptured),
Methuselah (oldest man ever 969 years),
Lamech (Godly father of Noah),
Noah (God's preacher for 120 years before the flood, 1 of 8 saved).

*I believe the context shows that God's Spirit was abiding with Seth's descendants until Gen 6, then the falling away of both genetic lines minus Noah. Would godly people marrying godless pagans cause God to destroy them?


~ Deuteronomy 7:3-4; Furthermore, you shall not intermarry with them; you shall not give your daughters to their sons, nor shall you take their daughters for your sons. For they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods; then the anger of the LORD will be kindled against you, and He will quickly destroy you."

Genesis 1 ALL creation reproduces after their OWN KIND. Angels: immortal spirit beings, mankind: mortal flesh!

Not disagreeing with this great interview or what's presented. But, perhaps another possibility to think about, if you are studying this: Adam was a Son of God (created directly by God). Cain was a son of man (created directly via Adam). After he killed Abel, Cain was afraid that others (what others?) would want to kill him. He went to Nod and got a wife. It doesn't say he "knew his sister" (Gen 4:17), so where did the wife come from? All of this seems to suggest that there were other people out there already (not born of Eve). Consider that God may have created other men like Adam. If so, then they would be Sons of God (created directly by God). Maybe other women were created from their ribs. That could demonstrate the population explosion, mitigate the reproductive genetic issues, and explain Cain's fear. Perhaps other Sons of God (fallen angels who were directly created by God) saw all these daughters of men - and the story continues as the Bible and Pastor Doug states. Then we get to Jesus, who was the Son of Man and the Son of God.

Just opening up something else to consider as a possibility. Anyway you look at it, it's interesting to discuss what the Bible says with our limited understanding. For now, we see through a glass darkly.
