One of the greatest Westerns ever made. Ending shootout very realistic. And a classic. All the actors were great, especially Newman and Boone.

Without a doubt the most underrated under appreciated Western of the sixties. Maybe of all time. Born 1963 and raised in San Diego I first saw it at the Frontier drive in when I was about 7 It was rereleased when Butch Cassidy came out. As incredible character actors as Richard Boone and Frank Silvera were the standout for me was Aussie actress Dianne Cilento who at the time w1967 was married to the biggest film star on the PlanetConnery Sean Connery. Four years earlier Cilento was nominated for an Oscar for Tom Jones when she co- starred opposite Albert Finney. The film won best picture but Cilento didn’t win. Her American accent is bloody perfect. And she has the most beautiful unique speaking voice I have ever heard. I think she grew up on the Gold Coast and both her parents were doctors. But when her Dad got posted to the United Nations in New York she went with him. She was expelled from her posh private school so her dad put her in a drama school. Good thing for all of us he did. Dianne was working on the Broadway stage before she went to work on the London stage. Cilento was the star when she met Sean in the late fifties who was a struggling actor. Anyway it’s an incredible film with great performances all around. Cameron Mitchell Boone Silvera Frederick March. Martin Balsam and of course Paul Newman. Ciliento was in The Agony and the Ecstasy with Charlton Heston about one year. Dianne Cilento what a voice what an incredibly brilliant actress.

After I played this movie for my 20 something son his reaction was “ This would have been one of the shortest movies ever if that soldier at the stagecoach station would have minded his own business “

One of the finest Westerns ever made. Newman outstanding, and so are the supporting actors. The great Richard Boone is a real bad ass.

“Hey, I got a question. How you gonna get back down that hill” is the best line in this movie and happens just before this clip. Classic western.

It’s hard to overstate how incredible Boone was in this. His voice, his delivery, he’s mesmerizing.

It's one of the best shootouts of all time. Just the right amount of dialog. All of the roles were filled to the hilt with great actors.

One of the greatest climatic shootouts of all times.I still get emotionally charged when viewing it.Every actor’s character was tailor-made for them, the end scene was so realistic and depicted the reality of the Hombres’s last words”we all gotta die sometime, it just a matter of when!Boom!

John Russell iconic! Hated that he died at the end pissed me off. We watched this in my college advance psychology class. You won’t see a masculine presence on screen like that anymore.
