As a terribly nervous driver, this helps me a lot. Thank you so much!

If I had watched this video last week, I would have passed my test 😂 I failed for control in exactly the scenario you described because I didn't steer first, thinking that dry steering was a fail and I had to brake sharply then reverse a little to get out around the car.

I was always wondering how on earth do people in the UK park so close to each other and how they get out of their parking space 😂 I grew up in Ukraine, we have wider roads in general and noone parks on roads. Seeing a two decker bus manoeuvring between cars tightly parked along the road in the UK village blew up my mind forever 😂

As always thanks for the video!

Thank you for this, it cleared up a misunderstanding I had with what my instructor was saying!

I have never understood the strong opinions against dry steering, especially for learners. Sure it's not my main way of doing it. But I still use it on occasion in really tight spaces to avoid risk of collision.

Great video! I normally roll forward very slowly when I need to steer my tires in a certain direction very soon and my parents wondered why I wouldn't just steer before moving. I keep trying to tell them how bad it is to dry steer😂🤦🏾‍♂️

It's quite impossible to never use dry steering. I always make sure the wheels are facing forwards after every time I park.

Edit: it’s a Vauxhall VX220 (saw it on one of your other videos) - that is so cool

What would you say doing dry steering on an automatic? As brakes need to be pressed while reversing or trying to do the parallel parking?

Not much space on my road so have to dry steer a lot. Because i drive an automatic there is a quite a bit of movement if brake isn't pressed so i literally have to be at a stand still when doing it i.e. brake pressed. Are you saying for any sort of modern car dry steering is ok even when brake is pressed - even if doing it several times a day? Thanks for videos

In Northern Ireland you will get a fail for dry steering on the test

What does He mean on 0:52? Is He stepping on the clutch and foot brake?

How are you suggesting that the car will move forward by just coming off the brake pedal - unless of course it;s the creeping movement you would get with an automatic transmission. But if that's the case, then why did you make reference to using the gas and clutch in particular, when you say they are not needed for a slow move forward. Surely, only one of those situations is valid; it can't be both.

0:15. I'm sorry but that's complete utter BULL$H!T that it puts your tires and suspension under greater strain. Think about when you go over a bump in your car. That's gonna put your suspension under WAY MORE stain than just moving the wheels at a standstill. And as for tires, well that's like saying don't drive your car because it will wear the tires out. That's what they are there for. They are meant to be worn and replaced. What about if you accelerate hard and brake, that's gonna wear them out so much faster than dry steering.
