I have a distant memory from Disney world when I was five years old where I saw a guy with this prosthetic. I was curious and quite a bit freaked out (I was five 😭) but now look at me, I’m really interested in prosthetics! I think kids media changed what I thought of it. Wakfu, HTTYD, and Fullmetal Alchemist were big influences. Now, I’m writing a novel with an amputee main character (lots of sensitivity readers needed!) in the hopes to change other people’s perceptions of disabled folks :) I’m never gonna forget that guy at Disney, but not because he scared me, because I learned that prosthetics are freakin cool as hell lol

Growing up, we were acquainted with a guy who had the same thing, even the same arm. We were very curious how it worked, but even though we were kids, we knew better than to ask. It's not polite.
